Ye he's back in. A couple of weeks doing it I think. I'll try and get some tickets.
Did a brilliant version of you've lost that loving feeling and he did Being Boiled too. Which was great to here.

He resembles someone I think Mr Tash!!!

Last 6 weeks with the City Of Culture title - that has gone by in the blink of an eye. Seems like an age ago meeting Dennis Booths Tash (Top man Dennis) to collect some tickets for the firework display. It has undoubtedly been a great year though. I haven't seen as many events as I would have liked, but even on an evening when out and about in the City you can tell there's a different vibe to the old place.

I hope beyond 2017, we continue the great work done this year to keep the interest amongst our new found friends of the City.

Still a few years to go though...we’re still the City of Culture until someone’s else is in 2021!

I echo this, everytime I have ventured into the town this year there has certainly been a vibe about the place, credit to HCC and the organisers on this one.

I do find it incredible how stupid the Allam have been with their handling of the council. I have read a number of really good reviews about our fair City, particularly in the Guardian, where a number of people have said, for example the owner of the Hideout, how accommodating the HCC have been in supporting projects. If only the Allams had not burnt their bridges, and handled things in a diplomatic way, what might have been.

Not seen anything like the number of events I'd like to have done this year but whenever I've been out in town even on a weekday night there is a buzz in the air. As you say it has been a gamechanger for the city in terms of perception which for me has been the most enjoyable aspect of it all - seeing the smarmy no nowt commenters slaughtered in the Comments section of these positive articles by people who have visited for perhaps the first time in their lives , fearing the worst, but coming away astounded by how wrong their preconceptions were.

How much prosperity and how many proper jobs can be created remains to be seen, but at least town has had a truly impressive refurb which has transformed it.

Went to see the Turner prize stuff last weekend and came away disappointed, as it was an utter bag of bab.
Maybe I'm still not fully cultured up yet with a Will Gompertz haircut.

Would like to have seen that.

I'm a bit wary about how her story is being told and retold, by people who maybe have an agenda or summat to sell.

Reading about Maxine Peake's version of it, she seems to have focussed it on the uncaring trawler owners. Brilliant idea to stage it at the Guildhall, but the full story of Lil Bilocca needs to take in all the hostility and opposition she got, not just that of the trawler owners.

It did cover that too actually, in fact the words used in appalling letters she received were read out
Difficult to cover every part of the story, and there was actually a lot, very cleverly, left to the imagination, but it was certainly incredibly moving and immersive
 
Heard these lads interviewed on Burnsy's show last week, quite an interesting story about them recording this album 19 years ago, but record label troubles saw it not released until now (its release has been funded by the bloke who owns the record shop in Hepworths Arcade)...
