We have quite a few midfielders, so it's not the end of the world. We desperately need defenders and in my opinion at least 1 or 2 quality strikers. As the friendly yesterday highlighted - we don't take our chances. Leonid put it down to conditioning <laugh><laugh> he'll soon learn it isn't conditioning, just the Hull City way <laugh><laugh>
Agreed. If we'd announced three signings on Friday of a cb and two forwards, tom woulda slipped, out the back door.

I posted this a few weeks ago. Maybe Ehab was dazzled by the thought of been well in with abrahamovitch on a personal level too. Ehab conned slutsky into coming and slutsky conned Ehab into thinking the door was open to Roman.

Despite a fine track record in Russian football with CSKA Moscow, we all know the great attraction in Leonid Slutsky for Hull City. Loan signings.

As a friend of Roman Abramovich, Hull think Slutsky may be able to bring in some talented youngsters from Chelsea on the cheap. It is another of the loan system's flaws — it lends itself to the old pal's act. A young coach with a direct line to Sir Alex Ferguson was once considered a catch for the same reason Slutsky is now.

'Of course it is possible that some of Chelsea's players can be loaned,' Slutsky teased, and Hull took the bait. Tomas Kalas, Lucas Piazon, Kasey Palmer and Izzy Brown have all been mentioned as possible temporary acquisitions. The same logic got Avram Grant through the door at Portsmouth and later West Ham.

Harry Redknapp recalls being sold Grant as technical director at Fratton Park because he would help get players from Chelsea. Later, he returned as manager, failed to secure any advantageous loans and took Portsmouth down.

This did not stop West Ham acquiring his services the following season with identical results: no Chelsea loan players, and the drop. One cannot help wondering why, if Abramovich holds Slutsky in such high regard, he is not now managing Chelsea.

He was available after the 2016 European Championship, just the same as Antonio Conte.

We were never going to get near Izzy Brown, Palmer or any Chelsea kid when there's PL interest and you can't expect to. Piazon's staying at Fulham, can't say I'm overly bothered and Kalas we'll have to wait and see. There's still plenty of quality Chelsea kids who could come here and make a huge difference. I'll be happy to name some if you like

No **** off you boring twat.

Already getting used to the fact that Tom's gone...Sad to see him go, but actually think its not a bad bit of business for an ageing player, who doesn't get around the pitch, though he never did, did he.

Bruce overpaid for most of the players he brought in. He wasted years of finances which were spent in advance and we are still crippled from it. The players he signed are leaving for their true values.

Bollocks....adding them all up, I reckon he has barely spent anything, especially when you take into account getting to the Premier League, and FA Cup Final, and Europe. How many clubs our size would have happily spent double what he did to get the success he brought. I, along with others, thought he could be too negative at times but I would never slag off his transfer dealings. If anything, Brownie was responsible for wasting dough that we could never get back...how many players he bought did we actually make a profit on?

Bruce's net spend is pretty much at zero now, we've had all our money back.

Mike White - Told that when Slutsky arrived at [HASHTAG]#hcafc[/HASHTAG] he was of the belief (assured?) he would lose no further players. He must be questioning that now.

Could well be true, but incredibly naive on his part if that is true, and if he believed it.

Probably stating the obvious, I'd say this coming week is now critical. Unless the train is put back on the track, meaning there's a few quality additions, the chances must be high that he will simply walk away, and that other senior players will seek their way out as none will want to be associated with or go through another train wreck like last year.

And surely the **** Enob has to communicate now, just like he promised :emoticon-0121-angry

Bruce's biggest mistake was the year we went down. He went and bought great young talent but never played them. And I will never foregive him for not qualifying for The UEFA cup group stages.

You can't dismiss his transfer business as negative though. Especially the way some of them have developed.

Someone's tweeted a pic of a car apparently at South Cave BP with a personalised plate along the lines of 'Kalas'.

Solid gold stuff.

Exactly. I've been saying this for weeks. It was the last chance of a payday for tom.
I'd do exactly the same in his shoes.
As Leon says derby are sailing close to the wind now, they've bought massively and failed every year for how long now?
We'll certainly know how to get at them with tom in cm.

Except we offered him a new longer term deal on better terms. It wasn't a 'last pay day' he was after at all.
It was though the chance to return to Derby. I agree, I would also do exactly the same if I were him and in his shoes.

<laugh> Could be anyone
