Or you could ask slutsky as unlike you he also thinks they are not easy. “Maybe in the next two or three days. We are working every day, talking to clubs, agents and players. It’s not easy but I’m sure we will have new players.”
Ehab wanted rid of him, in his eye's Tom was too close to the SB era at city and a senior pro in the dressing room too much of a threat , that alone would have been reason to get rid at the first opportunity.
Rowett said he thought the deal would collapse as we offered Tom more money than them in the end. Says it all really....players willing to take a pay cut to get out of this club!
I expect when the Ehab appointed Slutsky he though we would be loaning 11 players from Chelsea and they would all be free because of the friendship the manager has and that they can all play. So 3 players by Tuesday tick tock
Exactly. I've been saying this for weeks. It was the last chance of a payday for tom. I'd do exactly the same in his shoes. As Leon says derby are sailing close to the wind now, they've bought massively and failed every year for how long now? We'll certainly know how to get at them with tom in cm.
He certainly never overpaid for Maguire but a lot of people said he did for Livermore and everyone wanted rid of him after his problems. We paid over the odds for Mason according to most, too many fans just moan for the sake of it. My opinion is nobody should have been sold in January if Silva wasn't going to remain in charge this season. He sanctioned the sale of Livermore and Snodgrass because of the role they would have under him, then he ****s off at the end of the season anyway. I hate the Allams but i don't think everything is down to them. Most players don't give a **** these days apart from money. Stupid transfer fees been paid for average players and totally obscene wages. I've said it before football is slowly killing itself, how anyone can think a goalkeeper is now worth 30mil and players earning 250k a week is good for the game amazes me. Davies was not good enough for the premier league, and becoming injury prone but was worth more than the 500k we got for him. Maguire was always going to go to further his career, probably the same with Robbo but he is most definitely not a top 6 player. I'm sitting tight hoping that the players needed will be coming in, if they don't then we are truly ****ed and will be playing to crowds of less than 10k for sure.
Silva sanctioned the sales because both players wanted to leave. Robertson didn't so he blocked his sale.
That's what i said. But he shouldn't have had the power to sanction them IF he had no intention of staying.
I'd have loved to have kept Tom, but as demonstrated last season Clucas is more than capable of filling that role.
I posted this a few weeks ago. Maybe Ehab was dazzled by the thought of been well in with abrahamovitch on a personal level too. Ehab conned slutsky into coming and slutsky conned Ehab into thinking the door was open to Roman. Despite a fine track record in Russian football with CSKA Moscow, we all know the great attraction in Leonid Slutsky for Hull City. Loan signings. As a friend of Roman Abramovich, Hull think Slutsky may be able to bring in some talented youngsters from Chelsea on the cheap. It is another of the loan system's flaws — it lends itself to the old pal's act. A young coach with a direct line to Sir Alex Ferguson was once considered a catch for the same reason Slutsky is now. 'Of course it is possible that some of Chelsea's players can be loaned,' Slutsky teased, and Hull took the bait. Tomas Kalas, Lucas Piazon, Kasey Palmer and Izzy Brown have all been mentioned as possible temporary acquisitions. The same logic got Avram Grant through the door at Portsmouth and later West Ham. Harry Redknapp recalls being sold Grant as technical director at Fratton Park because he would help get players from Chelsea. Later, he returned as manager, failed to secure any advantageous loans and took Portsmouth down. This did not stop West Ham acquiring his services the following season with identical results: no Chelsea loan players, and the drop. One cannot help wondering why, if Abramovich holds Slutsky in such high regard, he is not now managing Chelsea. He was available after the 2016 European Championship, just the same as Antonio Conte.
its a good point but then we don't know if the owners wanted some cash to pay for loans who will not of been cheap.
We have quite a few midfielders, so it's not the end of the world. We desperately need defenders and in my opinion at least 1 or 2 quality strikers. As the friendly yesterday highlighted - we don't take our chances. Leonid put it down to conditioning he'll soon learn it isn't conditioning, just the Hull City way
