but if this quality is in demand, then he wont come free. salaries are more important to the finances of clubs such as us than transfers these days
FREE as in free transfer. thats a massive help especially to us. Gerrards wages wont be as much as what City are paying to Ghilas to do nowt as an example.
I only skip read this earlier and thought you were talking about Anthony Gardner. I was thinking to myself why would you even consider it If we get Ayala I don't think we need him whether he's free or not
Yes, but half the asking price? It's a strange one because now it's in the domain clubs like Leicester who are actively looking for another centre half, could nip in. I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate over £1m, hell they paid about £2.5m over the odds for mills!!!! He's not worth not having for the sake of £200k or so. Unless the hastily arranged friendly is also linked to this transfer?
Its been there for ages. Its no secret that DA wants to work for NP. NP seamed quite chilled talking with Burnsie last night about it.
Unlike normal? Let's be honest, there's no way of telling how the deal's going by how calm NP seemed.
This was so stupid. Everyone on this board pointed out we had 2 CBs and McShane, if we got an injury we were ****ed. Oh look what happens before the season even starts
but if he is in demand for FREE, then a dutch auction is the last thing Mr Pearsons will get involved in
on that point i would totally agree. I wonder if Cardiff will offer a cut price sale in January say just to get something in for him before he can leave for nothing ?
If we get a sniff of someone else being in the running, we may well up the offer a bit, but at the moment that doesn't seem to be the case. There may be interest from elsewhere, but it won't be from Leicester, they already have three first choice centre backs in Mills, Bamba and St Ledger and cover beyond that, they're only actively seeking a striker as far as I know. I suspect we'll end up paying about £700k for him, but if no-one else comes in for him, we may still get away with the offer already submitted.
Well.. On previous threads when NP has been mentioned and his ways of talking to the fans and media HE gives nothing away. Posters on here have referred to that as ""would hate to play poker against him"" hence my comment.
Skrytl's broke down in training after missing the preseason. Maybe a possible reason for the hold up, Dalglish needs cover?
It doesn't really add much but Sky Sports have now reported on the offer: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11669_7080595,00.html
