I think it would be great business, even if we had to up the bid to 1m. IMO he's a quality defender, and well worth 1m. How much did they pay for Mills, was it like 5m? And St Ledger is balls! Will be very happy if this deal goes through.

And Ayala is just the type of player that will fit into our sqaud. Young, gifted, hungry and wants to play games. Quality whilst he was here on loan, I have no fear that he would turn out to be a quality signing for us.

NP quoted in this article as saying he thinks it unlikely?

I thought unlikely before the Blackpool game was the current state of play.

I saw that and wondered if they've just missed part of the story out. Here's hoping so...!

    Liverpool fan in peace.

If this goes through you guys will have got a frikkin steal. Most of you will know that already cos you'll have seen him when you had him on loan.

I'd be gutted to see him go, esp when we're spending £16 million on players with potential, and then letting one go for less than a mil. He could be worth £15 mill in a few seasons.

Anyway, if he does go, i'll be pleased its to you guys, hope you go up this season.

    Cheers mate.

I remember leaving a game last season, saying that Ayala is the best defender I've ever seen pull on a City shirt. I've seen Rob Dewhurst aswell...! Turner aside(maybe) I still stick by that.

He's well worth the £1m price tag. Surprised you lot are letting him go but you've got the cash to buy better players. He'll easily be one of the best Centre Halfs in this league. If we go up, he'll be a brilliant addition in any Premier League side, Top 4 aside.

    Matt Mills 5.5 million

Chester + Hobbs and Ayala dont even get to cost Hull City 3 million. I know which business i prefer ?
plus all 3 defenders are better than Mills will ever be. Mills is over-rated and way over priced.

Many thanks mate. I also hope you finish in the top 4. Fingers crossed its top as i am fed up with Manchesters two and both Chelsea and Arsenal. Liverpool have a quality squad now and when Gerrard is fit what a midfield. Suarez could be the best striker in the country this season for you guys. Yes hope to be back in the PL next season.
ive no doubt that there will be add-ons in the deals but also maybe Liverpool get to have first refusal on any future transfer from Hull City.

To be fair I've only seen Mills play once and that was last season against us and he was superb, didn't lose a challenge all game, he's an absolute monster with pace. That said I wouldn't say he was aworth anywhere near what Leicester paid for him.

Yes. Thats my point. Like we did in the PL. Leicester City are wasting millions on very average players. Mills is a 2-3m
at the most. Will he have a re-sale value ? who knows. Our 3 will for sure.

Again with the ridiculous sweeping statements. Not worth the money true Mills is an excellent player at this level.

I don't understand people who say we don't need him. He was outstanding last season for us on loan and at 20 years old there's no doubt he'll be be playing in the top flight one day. He'd be by far our best CB, Chester is solid but he's nowhere near Ayala's standard while Hobbs is a carthorse and has never impressed me.

At 500k he's being severely under-valued and I think if we made a more realistic offer around the 900k-1m mark we'd have a bargain.

How is that a ridiculous statement ? You really show a total lack of football knowledge dont you chazz you idiot.
Bet you think Mills is worth the money Leicester have paid for him and are paying in wages.
Mills is a good player in this league i accept. My comments are not sweeping simply a fact of life.
Chester Hobbs and Ayala will prove in time to be much better than Mills can ever hope to be.

    At least you're honest

As for FrenchTickler, it is a sweeping statement to say that "all 3 defenders are better than Mills will ever be." How on earth can you be so confident in this to label it "a fact of life"?
I'm all for differing opinions but can i just suggest you use the term 'i think that...' or 'in my opinion...' more often.

As for the points you made i totally agree that our 3 defenders are a far better deal compared to their 1 for more money, and actually i also agree that all three have the potential to become far better than Mills, but i don't think any of them are there yet.

EDIT: Oh and all 3 are already better than Bamba and St Ledger... because they're both ****e ;) (sweeping statement alert!)
