Could be that he's currently engaged in bringing Nelson Oliveira to CR, which is what most of us expect him to be doing
A tinge of tongue in cheek about my comment Rick but the FACTS are:
Last season, by almost everyone's judgement, we were one of the "poor relations" in that division.
This year, with parachutes etc, we're one of the bigger ones.
If we, as a club have realistic ambitions of taking things to a new level, we've made [another] poor fist of another transfer window and that pains me.
And I'm not sure Oliveira is the whole answer, though like everyone, I wish him well and want him to do the biz <ok>

Nelson Oliviera looks better on YouTube than most, strong, quick enough, scores with head and both feet, 26, has a pulse. Only negative is a short temper.

He'll do me over any of the other rumour mill candidates.

We seem totally inept in our transfer dealings of late - perhaps we should bring back Bryan Gunn, as he was responsible for signing the legend GH!!!!
We spent big on RvW and that was a total loss and the same is true for Naismith, who claims he wants to help NCFC win promotion, but I haven't seen much evidence of that so far.
His speeches are very similar to AN when he speaks of wanting to play the youngsters in teh first team, but I haven't seen much evidence of that so far.either!!!
Maybe Saturday will bring a refreshing change.

Edit - why do we need a new striker - Jerome's got 2 goals in 4 matches, so that adds up to over 20 in a season doesn't it??? <whistle>

My wink was meant to suggest that I recognised your 'tongue in cheek' Cromer. It's been said before on here, but like others I feel that this is not the time for us to recruit PL quality players. If we struggled to do it in the PL, our chances now are limited. Even McCormack and Rhodes at £10-14m have never played in the PL before. IMO, Oliveira is much more the hard working striker AN is looking for and his return of 9 goals in 24 starts and 4 sub appearances indicates potential when playing for a better team than Forest.

I'm hoping that we will sign another striker after that if Lafferty is leaving, but even if we don't we now have a far more varied and talented attack than we had starting last year. Suddenly the Murphys have come of age and, along with Pritchard, Maddison and Canos are showing attacking potential that we haven't had for ages. Oliveira will also strengthen us and if we add another quality striker I feel it has been a good window for success in this league.
