PS.....Chelsea have signed their eighth goalkeeper....Mike Penders 19yrs old for £17 million from Genk. In the meanwhile Cooper is being valued at between 3 & 5 million.....peanuts for most bigger clubs.
It’s not enough money: half of what he’s worth? It’s also a poor move for him. Sheffield United were completely out of their depth in the EPL last year. Let’s be frank: historically, they’re the second best team in Sheffield. If he doesn’t have a decent chance to play in the EPL, then he’s underselling himself and might as well stay at Argyle on more money and with appropriate break clauses to allow him to leave when an offer comes in that suits both him and Argyle. If he refuses to sign a new contract, then given Argyle’s situation, it puts pressure on the club to sell him to the highest bidder whether that suits him or not.
If he doesn't like the move....he can say no.....if he still doesn't sign a new contract then running down his existing contract becomes a problem for Argyle financially....Cooper can hope that it doesn't sour his relationship with the club too much.....maybe he'll end up on the bench until his contract expires....not good for either party in the end .
Exactly. I wouldn't want this to turn into a Swansea/Whittaker situation but I wouldn't be surprised if Hazard plays on Sunday. Goalkeepers don't get substituted tactically either, so you are either in the team or you aren't.
I'm getting fed up with the Cooper will he'won't he saga. I really rate him as a keeper but all this talk and speculation is unsettling and needs to be put to bed no matter if the offer isn't what we the followers think it should be. We could do a fair bit with between 3 and 5 Million so take whatever it is and get rid. Move on.
I read somewhere that Argyle had been linked to another more experienced keeper as a replacement if Cooper leaves. I can't remember who it was or where from... but I read it.
i think take what we can let him go now as he does not want to be here spend some money and lets get the season started , i watched yesterday in london a very hot day and a miserable watch,, it will surely get better , i thought foster was in charge still.. come on wayne sort it out....
I'm totally shocked to hear that we have agreed a price of £2 million with Sheffield United for Michael Cooper. That is nowhere near his value.....unless I haven't notice that he's only got one arm or one leg.....am I missing something here or are his legs permanently damaged and he will be continually out injured with them.....we jokingly talk of a Plymouth price.....but come on only £2 million...it's hardly worth selling him for such a pittance.
Well, £4m with add-ons it would seem, including sell-on clauses. However, no it's not enough even at the higher figure, but Cooper obviously has a gun to the club's head in that he can run his contract town and either force a sale in even more difficult circumstances in January or go as a free agent in the summer. I seem to remember he was given a contract extension when he was off with a potentially career ending knee injury. All a bit one way isn't it.... He's NOT one of our own, he's NOT one of our own, Michael Cooper, he's NOT one of our own
Just watching the sheef utd v wrexham game its like callum burton in goal dan scarr playing and cooper in the stands .. seems weird
OUTGOING. Michael Cooper finally joins Sheffield United in a deal package that could beat Argyles outgoing sales value.
Every other keeper in the football league is being mentioned in regards a move to Argyle.....we do seem to be getting our fair share of rejections.....less than a fortnight before the window closes......and we're definately light of a top keeper....mid-fielder.....and a striker.....bigger budgets keep winning the day.
Who told you that Plym? Even Wayne Rooney when asked about transfers says he doesn't know. That's not true in general of course, I'm sure he's very well aware who's involved and the general situation, although perhaps not the day to day manoeuvring. PAFC don't talk about transfers. Other clubs may be less discreet and often plant stories to suit their own ends, and even more so agents. None of that's entirely reliable and the massive superstructure of gossip that's built on it even less so. We know we have a fixed but sustainable budget and that makes it difficult to complete with other clubs, some of whom are financially unsustainable. We got a number of what were clearly planned transfers done early, earlier than other clubs. It's uncomfortable, but there'll be a rash of of transactions as the end of the window gets closer. It's not an ideal way to do business but life itself is not ideal and football even less so.
From what was being said a deal was in the offing for the start of the week.....never happened....since then other keepers have been mentioned and approaches been rejected.....we're coming off second best each time.
Like all the other Pasoti users you have no idea what is real and what isn't anymore than I do. Stories emerge from nowhere and generally end up going to the same place. We have been linked with half of the available players in the football league and half of the players who we want to buy and may not be available. It's just crap talk and anyone believing most of it or even all of it is plain daft.
All rumour making is just a waste of time and energy. The club quite rightly “isn’t going to comment on speculation “. If someone such as an agent or a club is doing it in order to stimulate interest in a player and higher fees, the it’s an indication.they aren’t people you’d want to deal with. If it’s just some kid in his mom’s basement churning out click-bait, it’s not worth the pixels It’s consuming.
we will wait and see im sure the club have targets and they hopefully will arrive , i dont listen to any rumours or never been on pastiy .. so i rather wait and see.
