I'd love him to succeed, although I would hope that the French geezer will take his place on the right. I confess that I didn't notice any "nice touches" from Gladwin yesterday. He did manage to pass to a team mate on one or two occasions. I just don't see anything in him at all. He looks slow of deed and thought and very cumbersome in his movement. He didn't look fit to me and failed to work back or be in the right position defensively. I know someone who played against him in the Swindon area before he turned pro and he can't believe he became a professional footballer. Anyway, I really hope he proves me wrong and I'll always support him when he's on the pitch.
One thing from Gladwin that I don't think has been mentioned was that I think it was him that poked ball towards goal that got blocked and looped up for our first goal!
I have briefly looked at the Leeds forum and they are mostly of the opinion that they had a bad game rather than being beaten by the better team. Deluded or what? Mind you, they are MASSIVE.
I thought it was a good team performance and on that display, we would beat most in the division. Leeds were poor though and agree they are deluded. I heard Monk thought Leeds were unlucky?
I love this thread! U R's! Leeds could have a massive amount to do if they don't want league one footy next season...
Gladwin seemed the weak link in an otherwise very solid team. Our flair players (Luongo, Chery) sparked some lovely moves, our attacking players caused panic in their defence, and our holding players (Henry and the back four/five) kept at bay a Leeds side who really didn't seem to have too many ideas. I was chatting to my neighbour (a Swindon fan) who said Gladwin's one of those players who does really well at one club but doesn't travel that well. They have had a few players like that, and Gladwin always overperformed for them (or underperformed elsewhere). He'd be glad to have him back, and by the sounds of this thread, we'd probably be fine with him going back again.
Just watched tunnel cam and Gladwin limping is asked what he has done and says done his ankle first 2 mins which may explain poor performance. maybe he should have highlighted to staff a bit earlier!
JFH said after the game there were 2 reasons he subbed him, 1 he was close to seeing a red, the other he'd got the injury, which I got the impression he was well aware of.
moaning and being deluded are completely different. It's like reading posts by passionate fans and complete muppets.
