What a crock of **** If Clattenburg got anything wrong it was allowing Spurs to keep 11 players on the pitch. Maybe he should have sent one or two of them off and that might have prevented the game descending into an ugly battle. You are trying to defend the indefensible.
Exactly. The ref DID allow it to descend in to a battle, but only because he kept the ****ing idiots causing the **** on the pitch when their asses should have been hauled off.
So where do you draw the line given that eye gouging is apparently acceptable? Who gets to decide where the line is drawn? Is it a moveable line depending on how aggrieved/bitter you're feeling at any given moment? Had Costa gouged Dembele's eye would that have been acceptable because Dembele also wanted to win the game?
Seriously NSIS, are you justifying Dembele's eye gouge by saying it's because Hiddink questioned spurs' stomach for the fight? Listen to yourself. Manager mind games are all part of the game. Your players took the bait and paid the price.
Exactly, sounds ridiculous when you put it like that doesn't it! I don't defend Costa, as anyone who has seen my posts on the Chelsea match threads (which is no one, because its a toxic, barren wasteland) can tell you, I am the first to let loose on Costa when he acts the ****. But in this particular game he was pretty restrained for him. He reacted a little when one of the Spurs players nearly tore the shirt off his back, but thats it. please log in to view this image
Seeing as the ref missed the eye gouging, the stamp and the off the ball kicking, the FA should step in and charge those players and the club for failing to keep it's players under control and for their manager encroaching onto the field of play. Personally I think Spurs should be docked 3 points
Dembele has not admitted that he intended to injure Costa. It looked more like a playground fight. Keane freely admitted that he intended to cripple Haaland. There lies the big difference!
We know we will get fined, as will Chelsea, for failing to control players. In reality, it's Twattenburg who should get hauled up for letting things get that far. Whatever other charges are brought, we will have to see.
Bollocks! There was a lot of handbags going on. Dembele appeared to go at Costa's eye, but as he's not that sort of player, I still wonder if his intent was to do that.
So answer the question.....What else could he possibly have intended to do by sticking his finger in another players eye, other than injure him?
If Costa's head was moving - entirely likely in that sort of situation - then it is feasible that Dembele didn't intend to go for his eyes. As I say, he's not that type of player, but as I've admitted it did look like that. Id be interested to hear what either Costa or Dembele have to say about what happened.
Keane admitted it several years later in his book. I look forward to Dembele's autobiography in which he describes how he saw an eyelash in Costa's eye and was simply trying to help him out!
You're sounding a bit Scouser about Suarez now fella. No doubt he loves his family and gives money to charity.
Even if he didnt intend to get him in the eye, but he still went for his face, which is a straight red card offence.
I could probably get a graph organised to show areas of the face that you can legally assault during a football match?
