It is with deep sadness to confirm the tragic loss of our Mid Fielder, Mondli Cele, who was involved in a car accident this morning and passed away.

Our Deepest condolences go to the Family and Friends during this extremely difficult period.

Saw Mott The Hoople on their reunion tour a couple of years ago but unfortunately Dale's diagnosis of Alzheimer's meant that he was unable to play.

Ernie, this is a very sad. I saw Mott in 1973 and then on the previous reunion tour at the Hammersmith Apollo, he played alongside Martin Chambers on the 'hits' section of gig. Saw Mott again in 2013 in Manchester day after I got married! (that's a honeymoon). It was really sad to see him amble up to and then be lifted onto the drum riser. I was a fan from the age 12 (1972) and play MTH stuff in my band. He was a senior producer doing the great John Peel sessions during the time I was doing music sessions for the Beeb, though sadly I never got to meet him. Apparently a very lovely person as well as a great drummer (in my opinion) and later an excellent producer. Jeez Bowie then this...

Glenn Frey, founding member and guitarist of the Eagles has died aged 67.

A lot of musicians who were in a similar era dropping in recent weeks.
Being a fan of both Celine Dion and the Eagles I pass on my condolences to the families of both these stars but it brings home to me of how far we are away from conquering this disease. When Aids first became apparent and Freddie Mercury died there was a huge upswing in awareness of the disease and of massive support to find a cure, I may be wrong but you hardly hear of Aids these days, sadly that is not the case with cancer.

Dale Griffin, drummer for rock group Mott The Hoople, has died aged 67.

Personally I'd like January to RIP, too many people dying.

When you saw them in '73 was it the tour with Queen as the support act? I saw them at Leeds Town Hall on that tour, shambolic gig but great atmosphere.
