The guts behind the music will never be repeated, but there will always be life in good music, real musicians can create a passion for those that listen, music that lasts & you can still listen to that's 20/30 years old or longer will always be listened to by every generation. The stuff now is just throw away in the most part.
The death of musicians like Bowie will inspire people to listen to create their own music. Unfortunately over the coming years I feel we will lose many classic musicians & singers, hopefully in their wake will rise a new generation of angst ridden bands who want to put their point across to everyone & give their own political statements in songs that will stand the test of time.

Relief as remaining rock legends survive the night

There was general relief across the country this morning as it transpired that no legendary musicians had died in the past twenty-four hour period.

Managers and agents spent an anxious period over breakfast as they contacted stars to ascertain their state of health. However with no major problems reported, music industry professionals were able to cautiously relax.

“I got hold of Jimmy Page,” said one agent. “And he’s fine. Eric was ok also, apart from a slight cold. We had a bit of a scare when Elton John didn’t answer his phone, but it turned out that he was in Asda and couldn’t get any reception.”

“It’s been a dreadful year so far,” said a music journalist, having been hospitalised with exhaustion through obituary-writing. “I just don’t want any stupid accidents on top of this month’s grim events.”

You can. It is on You Tube. added plus is Deacon(bass) - May(guitar) - Taylor on drums.

this version has Heroes as a follow on. 11 mins 21 secs of pure orgasmic music.
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ6T9uYImnQ

It is a quality view and I have that version on my iphone. It SUPERSEDES ANY other version of the song. <ok> imo of course.

nb. it is not hindered either by Joe Elliott and Steve Smith from Def Leppard on backing vocals. :emoticon-0116-evilg

Without a doubt ^^^^^ this. Just so much dross about these days and people like Simon Cowell don't help with his throw away pop and get rich quick mantra.

So much chaff in modern music but you can find some wheat though. It is there but you have to look hard for it.

You can also factor in the following January deaths of Mic Gillette(trumpeter with Tower of Power & The Doobie Brothers) - Gary Loizze(singer with The American Breed) and Nicholas Caldwell(lead singer with The Whispers) the gig in the sky just gets better and better.

Agreed 100%. Last night I played a couple of old albums/cd. From 1983 a band called Cobra - album was First Strike and 1991 from a band called Tangier the album is called Four Winds. Whilst First Strike sounded a touch dated - only a touch mind,,, the Four Winds one could have been from 2015.

I was gutted when Freddie died, I'd only started getting into their music in the mid to late 80's, realising what great music was, unfortunately it was too late & my one huge wish I'd seen Queen live, same with Bowie. Although I did watch the tribute gig & I still have it on video, if it still works, so I might dig it out at some point & reminisce. It's weird you only regret stuff after it's too late. With Queen it was slightly before my time of independence & being able to do what I wanted. With Bowie it was always a case of next time, although I can't really remember the last time he toured TBH.
My one to see now though is Aerosmith before they die, also wouldn't mind seeing the Stones, but their prices are a bit steep.

I hated Queen at first. But the SHEAR HEART ATTACK album got me into them.

You can now get the Mercury Tribute Concert on DVD. I have it on both but the video does not get a look in even though my tape version has the whole concert from start to finish as it was broadcast. After a few words from May - Taylor and Deacon,, Brian May then introduces the band EXTREME as a band that actually gets Queen's music.

Extreme open up the gig. Metallica afterwards are also very good especially the cover of the Thin Lizzy song Whiskey in the Jar. But get the DVD version for the sound quality alone. Once the concert gets into QUEEN it really does ramp up. Not sure if it is on blue ray though.

Thankfully I have seen all the big bands / acts from 1973 to the present day EXCEPT........ I could never get a ticket to go and see ABBA live. Sad but true <laugh>

Of lesser known acts but ones that were really good back in the day, check out John Miles and Be Bop Delux with front man Bill Nelson. I saw Be Bop @ the Hull City Hall. Happy Days indeed.

Have seen a lot of sh-it as well.
