depending on the formation but 2 up top he could easily play with Sturridge or 433 then he could play wide (although think he's better centrally he said he's happy to play wide early in his career to develop).

Not sure about that. Ings wont play in midfield so lets assume its a 3 up top formation.

There you have ibe lallana markovic sterling/his big money replacement potentially milner coutinho sturridge. This doesnt include all the deadwood that could be the sub coming on for plan b or suddenly does a u turn and play out of their skins to force their ways back into brendens plans ala henderson like borini balotelli lambert.

Thats already potentially 7 other people ings is fighting for in that front 3 spot.

With that in mind unless ings has a stormer every match or there are plenty of injuries i would assume he wont get a look in during league games and your main front 3 will be sterling/lallana coutinho and sturridge

Forgot about origi so thats 8 players in his position to compete against!

A normal person wouldnt put him on the bench. This is rodgers though we never know what he is thinking. Lallanas been on the bench half the time? (Maybe fitness reasons) balotellis on the bench all the time. Same with markovic and lovren. Hell even 10m can is preferred on the bench to allen. Maybe rodgers will ease firmino in slowly

Mess partly sarcastic, I think he'll play a part in 20 odd league games but probably only start half of those (assuming don't have big injury problems).

I did put a caveat of if he plays enough. I said he'll score at just less than 1 in 2 and happy to stick by that

starts 15 games he'll score 6/7 goals

now that looks a bit more dangerous with Lallana, Hendo/Milner, ibe, markovic, ings on the bench.
 
Why do people keep putting sturridge in their teams? He isn't fit and will likely be a bit part player yet again. We need an actual 1st choice
 
More importantly, why do they keep putting Firminho in their teams when he hasn't even signed for us <laugh>
 
Really hope we get firmino. And illaremendi and kovacic. Think we will have an awesome squad if all these cone off. Probablt living in lala land though.
 
Really don't want Can in the DM role. Not saying he can't play it but he will need to be coached. I rather we signed a natural DM who can actually play there straight away.

I get the feeling it will be one of those two. Since the Illaremendi rumours started, the Kovacic ones have died down. And how many midfielders do we really need this window?

Although I agree I do think Can can (excuse the pun) play that role and swap with Lucas. The thing is, well have lots of different types of midfielders, Lucas a proper DM, can more attacking box to box, Hendo and Milner energetic, kova and cout creative or Illarra as playmaker from deep.

Means can use different players for diff matches depending on the opposition etc

Rodgers doesn't really like a proper DM it seems so Can looks like natural selection there, id rather sign Illarra/kova and firmino than a DM and Firmino as we won't sign 2 more cms

This is the issue - Lucas isn't a good enough DM, and Can isn't a natural DM.

Rodgers needs to understand that the defence needs protecting.

No point having players like Milner, Hendo and Can venture forward when they have to spend all their time worrying about leaving defence exposed.

What the hell is he then? <laugh> not a natural defender, certainly not the complete midfielder, nor an attacking one... where does he fit in our team if he can't be a DM?
