Scott or Wharton? At half the price (and wages?), and considering he covers twice as much ground, I'd prefer Scott. He appears quicker as well, though Wharton appears the more traditional #6, which is what we need more. Both English, though.

Gakpo is younger
Gakpo didn’t have 2 years left on his cotnract
Gakpo didn’t ask for a transfer.

I'm still picking Diaz for my lifeboat if one of them has to be set adrift. Not hating Gakpo, but there's a gulf in quality between the two, though I have to admit, in his final season with us, Diaz did miss a lot of sitters (the saving grace, if there is any, being that he made most of them for himself). :emoticon-0108-speec

No arguments with that, but even though I would cash in on Macca as I can't see him fitting into Iraolaball, we must add that last season was his first bad one for us, apart from the times in his first season that Klopp felt obliged to play him as a #6, which he clearly ain't. And don't forget that Szobo, after a fabulous start, was quite moribund himself in the second half of his first season: now he's our one world-class player. Form comes and goes.
i'm against selling unless we have already have the "replacement" or are over stocked in one position as i think we have a bigger drop off from the first 11 to second than many of our rivals the only reason i mentioned Mac was to point out that imo the Gakpo "hate" isn't justified

I don't hate Gakpo, I don't hate any player. I just don't think he's good enough and I don't think he ever will be. I'd rather give a youth player a chance over keeping Cody

Don’t forget gakpo was just as good as Diaz that year. Diaz is playing in an all conquering Bayern team in a 1 team league surrounded by quality. Very good players but is a lot easier to look good in those circumstances.

If we’d have given Diaz 200/250k a week at 29 for 3 years im sure would have been plenty pissed off that putting more big money into aging players.

I really don't mind gakpo, he's decent, quite effective in certain circumstances.

Is he exciting to watch? God no.
Do you want him coming on with 10 minutes to go to save a match? Erm no again.

I'd say he was a work horse that doesn't actually work very hard. He got a lot of of unwarranted **** last season. He wasn't great, but he was much better than Salah. He looked world class in comparison to McAllister.

He's another one who was badly served by slot asking him to do **** he just can not do.

I'd be reluctant to lose anybody further from the current squad. We are incredibly light as us without starting to **** people off.

Oh, definitely. Sell nobody until we have a replacement confirmed: remember the lesson of Quansah last season. :emoticon-0148-yes:

No way on God's green earth should we have given Ibou £400k. That's more than Virgil isn't it, ffs? So, okay Liverpool, there's bugger all we could have done about this - but learn from it. If Szobo won't sign a contract extension this season, he's got to go. He may be worth a £300k-a-week contract, but let's not go silly.

If I had to pick between the 2, its Scott. Nice, busy, tidy player and ideal for Iraola's style.
