Ings is currently away with England at the Under-21 European Championship and Liverpool are planning to give him a three-week break following its culmination.

The forward is well aware of the need for a break, but admits he may find it tough to take the full three weeks such is his desire to impress.

“I will be raring to go so I will probably only have two and join up with them on tour because I don’t want to be playing catch-up,” Ings said.

“I would prefer to be around the squad and ready to go for the start of the season.”

Makes sense to me... someone that doesn't think he's billy big bollocks and should walk in to the club and take what some might say is only a number but it's an iconic one. Like he says, why put extra pressure on yourself when you're a young player trying to break into the first team.

Take a big number and earn the right like those before him did.

Looking forward to seeing him for us, think he's going to surprise a few this year and bag 10 goals.

10-15 goals would not really be a big surprise. He is a decent player with a strikers instincts, he is brave enough to put his foot/head in where it hurts in order to put the ball in the net.
Not the most clinical striker you will ever have but pretty effective in the area.

Well the way a lot of people are talking on here would suggest that they think he'll be no better than what we currently have.

Rio Ferdinand has labelled Liverpool's £50m valuation of Raheem Sterling "a joke", saying English players are overpriced compared to their foreign counterparts.
Ferdinand, who cost Manchester United £30m in 2002, compared the £50m price-tag that Liverpool have put on Sterling's head to the fees paid for Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero.

Sky running that we're close to Firmino deal, but think they're tkaing it from globosporte. Will be amazed if we pull this off, and if so it would be down to Coutinho

I have watched the player - he was able to score a few goals last season because he was the main man in the attack so everything went through him.

Not knocking him but it will be interesting to see if he can get 10-15 goals in a team where he won't play as many matches and attacks won't go through him.

Also, I respect him a lot more after his recent comments on shirt number - some people may thing numbers have no impact but certain numbers carry a lot of weight and expectation.

Selling Sterling for £50m and signing Firmino for £20m is great business, and it's what we need to be doing more often rather than spunking it in the domestic market on the likes of Lallana and Lovren.

Potentially £20m left from the Sterling deal which means we can go big on another attacker.

My constant nagging is finally paying off!

Those two would be immense signings if Sterling goes - and that's how moneyball works. Sell Sterling for £50m and we could potentially get 2 quality players in return.

I think he'll score at a rate just below 1 in 2. If he plays 20 games (proper plays not 15 of those as 10 minute subs) I reckon he'll get 8-10 goals.

Hes a predator in the box, something we don't really have at the moment as Sturridge likes to drift wife or come short a lot (even though he's best on the shoulder of the last defender).

I would laugh if they were sat in the transfer committee meeting an Rodgers went, "Look guys, can we please just go and sign Kovacic and Firmino so that Jimmy shuts the hell up on not606, ok? He's a wonderful technician with great character and I want him to stop moaning!" ;)

With both of them being young (as is Coutinho), then if we do sign them and if they do develop as we hope, then that's a strong part of our midfield for several years to come (or we sell them for big money).
