Looking at a few. Mugabi is fine at rb but needs more time. Problem with Byram is he would cost a fair bit of cash.

And he also is far better suited to right midfield, and is pretty average at right back at Championship level.

Also assuming Clyne stays, try and take the rose tinted glasses off for a moment. I am sure there will be a few Premiership clubs looking at Trippier, for him why would he choose Saints over another team where he would be guaranteed starter over competing for a place at a similarly placed club?

Be happy if we keep 2/3 players linked to any of the usual teams. Really miss Morgan, but keeping JRod and Clyne (fingers crossed) makes a point to the media who think that no good player would stay here out of choice.

P.s. Perhaps people will now stop believing all these 'done deals' posts. Even if moves subsequently happen, I doubt they are settled too early in the season. Managers will want to have a look round, but a lot can change over a season and affect player needs. Yes, you may always know you need Ronaldo or Messi, but generally there are always alternatives at the 'pretty good' player level.

Or simply things change? It's not about being settled or not, it's about what you hear. Jay and Clyne both wanted to leave and that is fact. We owe it to Koeman and Reed that Jay and most probably Clyne changed their mind to stay. The fact is many players deals and minds are made up way before the end of the season. You only have to look at what happened around this time last year to see that. The Shaw deal was a done deal nearly a year before he actually moved. Yes papers say stuff that a lot of the time doesn't happen. But 99% of the time they don't simply make stuff up.

Never fails to amuse me how people are quick to call bullshit when a paper links a player away but treat it as gospel when same paper reports something positive

I thought Albert Adomah was the stand-out player in last night's game at Middlesbrough - fast, skillful, good crosses and a great finish - if Middlesborough don't make it past Ipswich / Norwich well worth a bid!

I wanted us to sign him in the Championship when he was at Brizzle. Dunno about now though

BBC Final Score selling off our whole team. Sutton saying Mane will leave, Crook saying Clyne, Bertrand and Pelle.
