    Fortunately he only signed his new deal in the summer and this puts us in a strong position and I might be wrong, but can't see him trying to force a move.
    Lambert was showing signs of decline last season where you thought week in week out football would be too much, but Fonte is having his best season and I think it was Gary Nevile who said he plays in way where he hardly breaks a sweat

    Even taking last summer into account I find it hard to believe fonte would go or want to go anywhere else

    In the absence of Forster, Fonte must be the first name on the team sheet, but his importance to Saints goes beyond his footballing ability. He is held in esteem by the players....can you imagine the gap left in the dressing room by his absence. I can't see Reed and Koeman letting him go...unless he agitated like mad (and that won't happen).

    A little while ago Fonte remarked how he'd learnt a lot from playing beside Lovren. Just shows how players don't react the same as fans....we find it appalling that any player wants to leave Saints, whereas obviously players understand and don't hate each other for such decisions. Lovren said early in the season that he wasn't used to being the leader....so I guess that is Fonte's real strength.

    The Daily Echo are trying to run a Player of the Season poll, it started well with Fonte polling about 48%, however someone has infiltrated the site and has corrupted the scoring to make Elia the leader, probably the same poster that has found a way to corrupt the thumbs up/down system too, the Echo doesn't seem to be able to correct it at the moment.
