Apart from the 90's till say a few years ago...we have always been the bigger club of the 2. It's a well known fact that most mags think they were formed in 1992 when in actual fact they were formed in 1892...
1992 was almost 20 years ago. Who gives a **** what went on that long ago? It's now completely pointless and anything prior to that is so incredibly unimportant it makes anyone who brings it up look silly. Like you right now. OT: Sunderland will never ever come close to filling its full potential until it starts raising attendances. This notion that you have more spending power is complete nonsense. We have a far higher turnover and have been lowering expenditure significantly over the last few years whereas you lot have increased your expenditure while your turnover has remained practically the same if not worse. We'll see who is in the better financial position in a few years time and it won't be you unless you start making some money. Infact my guess is the **** will hit the fan unless you can somehow get into Europe or start filling your stadium whilst also raising ticket prices.
The very fact we have so many Skunks biting like piranhas over this, is proof enough for me that this article has struck a chord with the deluded ones.
It may be bollocks in bits but one thing is without doubt correct. WE HAVE THE BRAGGING RITES. We finished tenth. Above them. In fact we finished above them for the last three seasons. And before they come back with 5-1. Churchill lost many battles but the war was his. Newcastle spent a fortune under Hall and won **** all. Indeed we are the last North East team to win the league. We are the last to win the FA Cup. I love facts, you just can't argue against a good honest fact. We love our Chairman, We can all see Bruce is doing a fine job and Short is backing them to the hilt. Let them squirm I say.
Hmm, red and whites are only spending this season what they have received from transfer fees - it's called reinvesting........ Red and whites didn't need a personal bail out of £100m from their owner to prevent them from going into administration...... and even after that, toon are about £100m in debt.............. Sorry, what was your point again? Ah yes, you're saying Sunderland should follow Toon's example and not reinvest transfer fees.....It's a pity Toon weren't prudent a good few years' earlier - they wouldn't be in the absolute financial shambles they find themselves in.... And how come they are in this mess with all those full houses over the years? I wish them luck Mr Troll, but always remember "what goes around, comes around" ...
We aren't in a mess. My point, again, was that you are going exactly the right way of needing a bail out in a few years, your wages keep growing and you keep spending but your revenue isn't increasing with it.
I an trying to engaged the dark side in debate on this thread on their board, I would welcome all of your support come on over lads
How, exactly? Once again we have spent less than we have brought in from transfers. Our wage bill has massively DECREASED prior to this window with the departure of several 'Keane contracts', the likes of Healy and Murphy, worthless footballers, we're soaking up 50k a week between then, Jordan had signed a bumper new 5 year deal, and Bent was the highest paid player at the club. It helps that we have a multi-billionaire owner, self made at the helm. He'll know where the line is, he's hardly gonna run a business he's invested many millions into down into the ground is he? There's no impending financial disaster at Sunderland, and well you know it, our wage bill is 75% of turnover, which is manageable, and there is another increase in sky money this year, as well as the club expanding commercial operations. Don't worry about us my friend, we'll be just fine. (You could go pick on Boro, they are ****ed.)
OK, so pre-1992 when you weren't better than us is out. 2009-11 when we've been better than you is out. Damn, blast, is there any period at all when you will allow discussion of our clubs' relative positions? ;-)
Ah, what ever some cockney journalist writes, he's full of ****e. All that matters is between us the games finished 5-2 and 1-1, but we finished above you and the rivalry is as good as ever! This season is a whole new matter. We've bought a whole new team. You've bought a few frenchmen. I'm looking forward to the derbies. We think your ****s, you think we're ****s, so what? It's part of the north east footballing culture, and I for one wouldn't change it. PS lets both do well this season, put the north back on the footballing map.
It's all true i tell ya.. Top dogs for years to come, no-one wants to sign for them... Gervinho, Gamerio, that Swansea player, now Erding. Only the lads of you-tube happy hour want to go...
I think our mates from NE1 miss the point, the facts in the article are not important its how they, the great unwashed, are getting so hot and bothered about an article that they say is not bothering them. Best read for a long time, may print it out and frame it.
