Lallana is fine against the smaller teams, where we can afford to be patient and grind the other team down with constant pressure. But against the bigger teams, where the game is more evenly matched he just doesn't do enough, offensively or defensively.

I was sitting watching hoping that Lallana would be subbed when he got clattered by Jones (which should have been a Yellow or the ugly ****er and would have lead to a 2nd Yellow in the 2nd half and obviously a red). Lallana was **** before he got smashed and was only going to get worse after since he's a lightweight. If Gerrard had come on then, about the 34th min?, would it have meant that he'd have been less reckless and gun-ho and we'd have finished with 11 men on the pitch? Now we'll never know cause Rodgers didn't have the balls to take Lallana off as soon as he was shown to be ineffective.

I don't think he's even good against smaller teams. Just don't understand what he adds to the team.

He probably thinks Stones is better (only because he didn't actually watch his team today and see the mare he had) <laugh>

United definitely broke Liverpool today. The club and the fans.

I sort of agree with Jimmy, annoyingly <laugh>

Lallana just doesn't seem to quite have any top class attribute. He's not particularly quick or strong, he doesn't have the best stamina, he doesn't score many, he doesn't really have the ability to pick passes through any defences and he's not someone that can consistently beat defenders.

He has been decent for us, so far, but I don't think he's quite got the ability to be a regular week in week out for any team wanting to challenge where we want to.

We would've been better off with Balotelli alongside Sturridge today or Sterling in the front 3 rather than Lallana today IMO.

    Haha about time.

Lallana has the tools but he just wasn't coached well enough to utilise those tools to max effect.

Mario, at worst, will give Sturridge more space to operate in. Both players need a partner.

Lallana is still working towards his best for us

He missed preseason and the start of the season with an injury

He's already adding some needed depth to us and next season he will do better

If Lallana joined us an £8m cheapo from La Liga, we'd all be criticising him ala Aspas.

Happy about the result, disgusted by the ****ty thuggery on our players. #chelsea-esque from Livpl, thought Rogers had a bit more class than that.

I know Rodgers is not using Balotelli to make a point regarding transfers but I think it'd be quite interesting to see both of them up top together with Coutinho in behind. Because Lallana & Sterling are both on a poor run of form at the moment.

Sterling is struggling because I think he is overplayed but not helped by being stuck out wide.

Get him back up top in the middle where he can influence games.

Lallana just hasn't got the body, pace or ability to play the game rodgers talks about. beofre the game he was on about instensity and all that... well... all i saw was a guy run from one end of the centre circle to the other not being able to get to anywhere he needed to be, not offer a scrap of cover o nthe right and we ended up moving players around... again.... the swansea game was exactly the same!

For me we played utd with 10 men here... just not good enough.

Utd were very good. Or i should say mata and rooney were very good and felliani did as predicted just parked left side and headed it. LFc were poor in response and really it said it all that when we had ten men we were just as effective as with 11.

United controlled the game. After ten men they were always gonna win, poor keeping let us have hope but yeah, United were good.

I don't think he is the best, but he's been very good.

But point does remain, on a serious note, which CB has been better this year? Kompany has been poor, Terry has been ok, Cahill poor-average. Saints defenders have been ok however as proven with Lovren last year, helps when you have 2 DM's in front of you a lot.

    Stones? <whistle>
