I'm of the opinion like some on here that names should not be given out until charges are made. Such and such being arrested on suspicion of......... is not something we should be reading about nor should it be used to sell ****ing newspapers. Surely there's more going on in the world that can be used to sell papers, the colour of a dress for example !
I don't like to stereotype or cast aspersions as to what/who is right or wrong but how can you justify arresting, detaining and then charging someone with having sex with an underage girl when they go out of their way to look old enough to be allowed into pubs and clubs, to buy drinks and be chatted up by anyone that fancies a bit of slap and tickle? Who's to say even that she was chatted up in the first place, she may well have made a move on him in which case is he wrong to assume that cos she's in a club and hoying the voddies back that she's of legal age. There are so many variables to these types of allegations and because of this names should be kept out of the equation until there is some hard and fast evidence. Where do you stop looking to place blame ? The parents for letting underage kids out drinking? The door/pub/club staff for letting them in/serving them or not doing enough to verify their age? The person themselves? The accused (wrongly or otherwise)?
Of course the rozzers turning up mob handed to his gaff is gonna raise suspicion and draw attention. Does it really need all of that though? Surely one unmarked police car turning up would be sufficient? The club doesn't have to release any statement if they don't want to...if someone notices he's not at training for a few days all the club need to say is that he's picked up a knock.
Like someone else has already mentioned, it only takes one high profile celeb to be falsely accused and to go to town on the media etc before something gets done about naming and shaming people before gathering all of the hard facts. Kevin Webster off of Corrie obviously isn't high profile enough

Just to throw my pennies worth in - Is he actually accused of having sex with a girl under 16, or is it 'sexual activity'. From memory, I'm pretty sure that under the Sexual Offences Act, 'sexual activity' covers sending pictures via mobile phone/ internet.
Its all speculation isn't it, which is the problem with the media circus getting involved. Obviously you don't have to be Sherlock to work out if the police arrest a 27 yr old man and announce that, and the club suspend Adam Johnson who it is. However someone somewhere has set a ball rolling which is not helpful to the case. Its fair game on forums like this and others once the information is in the public domain. Are we all just adding to the problem? Possibly but the horse has bolted by the time we all start commenting, the jokes get made etc etc.

He has been released on bail without charge. Now even Beastie Bramble got charged (later found not guilty), so this could suggest this might be a storm in a teacup. If they had cast iron info he would be charged surely? Its like an episode of Breaking Bad with all these cliffhangers.
I have to say if it turns out he is not guilty of anything, I'm not cool that he has been named, shamed and had this stigma attached to him. The club too. yeah most right minded people wouldn't associate it the club and their fans, but then the world is not full of right minded people.

The only high profile name that I can think of is Craig Charles. I understand that he was shown to be conclusively innocent despite being banged up at Brenda's Pleasure.
Makes you wonder how much of it is Prem footballers being a target and how much of it is them being thick bastards? His behaviour off the pitch has never been great apparently, as he is a little too fond of a binge drink in the clubs. Whether this was bad judgment when pissed or something more sinister will no doubt come out in due course.
