U-21s beat Maidstone 5-1 in the Kent Cup. Team included a Monlouis and a Dago. There is an 18-year-old Monlouis at Stoke who was born in Lewisham, so I guess that is him. No idea about Dago. What do you know about Beeney? For four years since u17s Philips has been in possession of the GK spot. Now he is sharing it with Beeney. I did not notice Beeney playing for our u18s. Where did he come from and how old is he?
I was talking about something similar on the train home to another Charlton fan. I got this feeling that this club has become toxic and not just from when Roland has taken over. It seems to have exacerbated the problem, by moving c****y players between his network, when under previous regimes we would have promoted youngsters, take for example, Chris Solly, Jonjo Shelvey, Scott Wagstaff, Jordan Cousins. Once we have a need for a player, we looked at them instead of a loan. They gained valuable experience, and proved to be excellent players. Our youngsters I fear, won't get a chance, because you'll have sub-standard players like Nego, Thuram-Ulin, Bulot, Buyens, coming in instead. It's not just affecting our youth players, but former players too. Simon Francis is a prime example. Utter s***e! But now, he played excellent all the times against us, and owned that wing when Bournemouth played Watford, and we are potentially looking at him becoming a Premier Leauge player. Bet there is tonnes more example where we have proper dogs**e players that have gone on and done better afterwards. Something really wrong is going on behind the scenes, that other clubs are not making the same mistakes as us.
Beeney was from the Chelsea Academy, he is 17 in May, he is highly thought of. Bill Dago is a left back from Auxerre. Monlouis is a defensive midfielder from Stoke he was at Palace.
It ended Charlton 0 Colchester 0 Johnson was taken off after 65 minutes after breaking the record for the number of ****s uttered in one game. He played well and he is extremely vocal. He had a rant at our bench for not getting a sub on straightaway. He also battered the ref and assistants with a lorry load of ****s. Lennon played well on the left side of defence, in an extremely forgettable game. Both keepers had nothing to do. Ahearne- Grant had the best chance when he powered into the penalty area but instead of passing it to Kennedy he tried a shot which was blocked. Apart from Lennon and Johnson nobody enhanced their chances of getting into the first team. Team Phillips Pyke, Johnson, Lennon, Konsa Munns, Muldoon, Gerard Ansah, Kennedy, Ahearne- Grant Subs Thomas for Johnson,Cumberbatch for Muldoon, Browne for Munns Not used Mitov, Hanlan
I see Colchester had a Callum Harrison and a Marriott playing for them. Have the Harriotts morphed into new life-forms?
Good result. I guess of that 16 only Phillips, Lennon, and maybe Gerard would appear in our strongest u-21 selection, though to be fair Cardiff may have fielded lots of youngsters as well.
I notice on Saturday our Under18s beat Ipswich 2-1. A player who I have got high hopes for Ademola Lookman scored twice.
Only first year isn't he? Seems hard to tell with strikers ,I've been wrong so often. I agree he ticks all the boxes so far, but I also expected the Pig to be banging them in by now.
Nathan Eccleston, the Liverpool loanee we had high hopes for, has just signed for Kilmarnock. There he can join Sammy Clingan, who had a 1 month trial with us, and who scored a 90th minute winner against Dundee Utd. on Saturday.
Improved service from the comms, who announced 3 hours in advance on the OS that the U-21's game today was called off.
I went to the ground on Saturday for the U18s at eleven o clock, nothing doing. So I went home again. No communication on Twitter, Facebook or OS. I believe the game went on later.
If in doubt ask AHLL. That's what I did, on this forum, and he told me it looked too wet, so I didn't go.
