Supporting Sunderland, or any football team for that matter is like taking drugs! People react to the buzz in different ways! During the buzz some people go mental, scream their heads off, enjoy themselves no matter what! Others like to just sit back quietly and watch what unfolds in front of them! Then theres those who fit in somewhere in between! Its those who sit somewhere in between who react to how the trip goes! When things go bad they go nervously quiet! Hence why the stadium lacks atmos at the minute! We are having too many bad trips too often! And when the buzz subsides after 90 minutes peoples comedowns are different also! Some beat their chest looking forward to the next high with optimism whilst others get depressed, even angry as to why they put themselves through it, promising never to do it again! However like most addicts, they go back for more, knowing that there is a strong possibility they wont enjoy it, but clinging onto the hope that their next high will be 'the big one!!!'
I've never understood how people, who are keen Sunderland supporters, come in for so much flak on a Sunderland forum
These people you're talking about, it's like they've never set foot in Roker Park. We're a shell of a club. From 21,000 with no expectations and the will to have a good time to 42,000 where the majority are sat in silence or boo. The contrast scares me. My hands are up, I'm struggling to understand it. If I was that disillusioned I'd **** it all off. I pray it won't happen but doubt it will when there's people like you, Raw, Monty(the good one)and WMS and the many others around me who still have the bug.
But thats the thing though, I'm not exactly sure what you are lumping me in with. As far as I've disagreed with Raw is that there is a problem with the atmosphere, but not that there is the need to blame the fans on here. Its detrimental as much as the silent majority at matches who bitch at people for trying to generate a better atmosphere. Things have gotten out of proportion. You can acknowledge a problem and encourage rather blame. And Smug labelled anyone who doesn't sing and shout etc as an inferior supporter, said that his era was better (a subjective claim at best) while inferring his peers have done a shoddy job raising their kids. Its that narcissistic attitude I take exception to. I can't recall anything you have said in this thread in particular without trawling through it. I thought we were one big family. Yet we don't want to act like it.
I didn't say my era was better in football terms alone, I was speaking generally which is an opinion I believe. I didn't infer that people have made a shoddy job of raising their children. If you took it that way, you're wrong. However, I did say that people who sit in total silence, in response to perhaps one of your posts, are inferior. I stand by that as well. Don't try to put words in my mouth, I have enough of my own You appear to be saying that everyone sitting in silence wouldn't make any difference. If that's what you actually mean then I have to totally disagree.
If any fan left the Liverpool & Hull games happy & not bothered about the performance then your a ****ing ******. sorry for getting abit angry & taking it out of the players. next time I just sit there & sing there names & so on. What a ****ing plum.

Never been bullied & I would love people like you to try it tho. this 6ft3 ginger meet head would break you in half. now jog along & sing for the players
