Liverpool 0-1 Wimbledon - Lawrie Sanchez
Goal! An incredible few minutes at Wembley. Liverpool have a perfectly good goal chalked off at one end and moments later Wimbledon lead.
Bent as ****.
Loved Fashanu's time wasting when we got that free kick immediately after the restart, bet we would've scored if we didn't have to wait 5 minutes to take the kick
I remember well....

Yeah but that would make the BBC's 24 hour coverage of the game (they are showing the 1988 final right now FFS) completely pointless and a waste of time and money, so they're hoping everyone will just ignore reality for the sake of the magic of cup violence
We've only ever been average to **** since I've supported. With notable moments of greatness which have not been without considerable adversity. Last season is the best football I've ever seen us play in my life and that was with basically no defence. The 80's side was a complete side, it was strong everywhere.
Hardly surprising that a stat gonk like you doesn't understand the football heart of the Wimbledon story.
AFC Wimbledon are basically a Phoenix club of Wimbledon FC, it's a akin to a club being wound up and a 'new' one formed to continue the footballing story.
As the original Wimbledon doesn't exist, it was bought for it's league certificate the first (and only thank God) English 'franchise' sale. What opened in Milton Keynes was nothing to do with Wimbledon FC in any way, shape or form. AFC Wimbledon has retained the fanbase and heritage of the original club and therefore the coverage of '88 is perfectly right. It's a great footballing story.
I think Hull and Cardiff are somewhat different scenarios tbh. There's no suggestion that either club would be uprooted from their home town area, merely the owners having strong opinions on what makes the club more attractive to the overseas audience, and figure that as it's their trainset they'll ride roughshod over 'tradition'.I have been trying to say this.... The fear in hull and cardiff is they are franchises to their owners too. the 3 man committee that let wimbledon move to milton keynes was a disgrace but i suppose if you look at Brighton and hove albion moves of distance have occurred in the past

I spelt out the reality in my post, which you've chosen to ignore as it doesn't suit your facile point.Only in inverted commas because reality doesn't suit your argument![]()

The committee that signed off the MK Dons move must have taken a bung, it was never right that call and everyone knew it at the time. They only got away with it due to the fact that Wimbledon only had a small fanbase.
I don't think a move of that nature would ever get sign off again tbh mate. The FA have even blocked Allam changing the name, they'd never allow him to move them to another part of the country.yet........... you have to wonder about tan and the other clown... I hope they never do but you have to view them all with suspicion. I'm sure the venkeys at Blackburn would say the same.
I think the mk thing was in the context of no suitable stadium in plough lane but now suddenly its possible years later... for me it sounds like many many Councillors took their share and all.
