Wimbledon in 88 although bullying underdogs were in the same division as us, a bigger shock would've been say if a then 2nd division side like say Southampton beat a top division side like Man Yoo.

finally found who the damn ref is.

the fa site is a joke they have refs only for 2nd round replays up.

    "AFC Wimbledon v Liverpool

Sammy Moore and Adebayo Akinfenwa will be fit for AFC Wimbledon after recovering from illness and a leg injury respectively. Millwall youngster Jake Goodman is eligible to play what will be the final game of his loan spell while defender Adam Barrett will be unavailable for Wimbledon as his loan from Gillingham expires on Sunday. Defenders Jack Smith (hamstring) and Andy Frampton (ankle) are set to miss out again.

Defender Martin Skrtel returns from suspension for Liverpool and fellow centre-back Dejan Lovren could make his first appearance since December 17 after recovering from a groin injury. Captain Steven Gerrard, who has announced he will be leaving the club in the summer, is likely to be rested while striker Mario Balotelli needs to be assessed after missing Thursday's draw with Leicester through injury.

Top scorers (all competitions): Matt Tubbs (AFC Wimbledon) 15; Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) 7

    Referee: Jon Moss (W Yorkshire)"

this ref has done 15 prem games this year and is joint top red card flasher with 5 reds and has given 58 yellows too... in short he's probably going to bottle it tonight and let them away with murder.

When I watch cup games the ref always lets the lower team foul the **** out of the higher team (especially at home) since they act like their job is to make things even rather than apply (or even know) the rules of football

I agree. they get so scared of having a decision to make or look bad on tv they prefer to let it be "old school" so I expect this fat lump this lot has to batter skertl around and i expect their pitch to be not cut and bobbly as hell.

the ref will simply abdicate all responsibility until about 50 mins when someone will sneeze and cards will start tumbling out of his pocket from then on.

his record reffing our games is here

    http://lfcstats.co.uk/jonathanmoss.html

palace beat us 3-1 under his reffing this season, his only game against us.

he did ref the 5-0 thrashing of spurs mind so.... not much to go on frankly.

One problem with this. The Wimbledon we're playing tonight aren't the original team that we played in that final are they. That side is the one that are now MK Dons. AFC Wimbledon are a brand new club with no relation to the original other than the place name. Techincally speaking.

Yeah but that would make the BBC's 24 hour coverage of the game (they are showing the 1988 final right now FFS) completely pointless and a waste of time and money, so they're hoping everyone will just ignore reality for the sake of the magic of cup violence

I'm watching it. The media is all a fiction, whatever you're reading/watching. Why should this be any different?? :emoticon-0110-tongu BBC are a shocking organisation anyway, was looking at their preview of 2015 yesterday or the day before and it's shocking for the amount of public money that's pumped into their sluices annually.

not according to them nor mk dons either.

milton keynes fc needs to drop the dons ****e from its name and call themselves tigers or something to piss off hull fans. whatever....

AFC wimbledon you will notice will have triangular corner flags... you will note this perhaps in the context of the original FA Cup was competed for on the basis that if you won it three times then you kept it (as Brazil did in 1970 with the gold Jules Rimet trophy). The Wanderers FC won the cup three times in succession (1876, 77, 78) but declined to take possession of it. They were granted or possibly adopted a distinction to prove their achievements instead. History is rather vague here. Hence the triangular flags/pennants. Similarly all other cup winners have adopted the same 'trophy' along the way, namely triangular flags. Another one to top this is Blackburn Rovers. Along with the now defunct Wanderers club, they also won the FA Cup three times in successive years (1884, 85, 86) and claim the honour by being the only team to sport triangular flags INCLUDING their club emblem displayed on each. The Wanderers, prior to their demise also exercised this right apparently.

I looked this up and its hard to note but many forums ask about this and it seems to be some sort of tradition whether you have them. LFc do not have triangular falgs but some teams do.. you should look out for this in the next rounds.

There's a lot our current side could learn from the one of the late '80s. On the pitch they look like they think they'll win, not that they expect to, just that they think they can, there's an arrogance and confidence about them (for obvious reasons as they were actually good but the psychology of that could be applied to our side today)

yeah but that would require being the pick of the crop across england and "expensively" assembled. LFc were the best and traded on being the best and could attract any player they wanted... they just nver wanted utd players.

Today there is no f'n way Barkley is coming to us. he'll go to citeh. but steve mcmahon made the trip across the park and everton were good then!

Barnes cost just under 1 million, rush actually returned a 400k profit on his juve debacle, houghton was less than a mil, beardsley cost us 1.9million! thats a whopping great 3.5mil for the best forward line we had in the middle to late 80 and prob through 90s too.

to have the swagger you have to have the cash and knowldege you are the best. a bunch of kids can't swagger round like that. I'd rather our kids and thats what half them are... work their pants off in order to compete for the right to win.

If F.C. United of Manchester met Millwall in the FA Cup the BBC would claim it's a repeat of the 2004 final if they happened to have the TV rights

Liverpool U21s were playing Shrewsbury this afternoon at home. Cant find the lineup anywhere on the internet but if it is found it may give some indication of any youngsters who might be included in tonights squad.

Suso definately wont be playing as he was having 45 minutes for the U21s to try and get him back to match fitness.

Adam Phillips, Canos, Wilson are all in the far east playing in the Frenz international cup so none of them will be included.

in the end afc wimbledon went to the lowest tier of english football. they call mk the franchise.

like it or no wimbledon Fc was wound up really and ended.

    but hey..

aldershot, accrington stanley, glasgow rangers were all wound up too... what are brighton and hove albion then? To me the fans are what makes it. Are rangers defunct? no... afc wimbledon lost their ground, their league status and so forth but the fans stuck together and made a club for themselves and fair play to them i say.

If they want to claim wimbledon fc fine. let them be wimbledon reborn.

Aldershot were Aldershot Fc and are now Aldershot town. another team that grew from the bottom up. they claim all the history such as it is.

If afc wimbledon get thier new stadium and rise to say championship level what do you say to them... oh you never won the cup? nah you say fair balls to you but we are still going to spank your arses cos WE ARE LIVERPOOL!
