7 times winners of the FA cup: 1964–65, 1973–74, 1985–86, 1988–89, 1991–92, 2000–01, 2005–06

AFC Wimbledon:

“On 28 May 2002, the Football Association backed a three-man independent commission decision to allow Wimbledon F.C. to relocate 56 miles north to the new town of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire after claims from Wimbledon chairman Charles Koppel that such a move was necessary in order to prevent the club from going bankrupt. Although the club were unable to physically move to Milton Keynes for over a year, their traditional local support dried up almost immediately in protest. On 30 May 2002 a group of Wimbledon F.C. supporters led by Kris Stewart and fellow founding members Marc Jones and Trevor Williams, announced plans to create a new club dubbed "AFC Wimbledon". On 13 June 2002, a new manager, kit, crest and stadium were unveiled to fans and the media at the packed out Wimbledon Community Centre. In order to assemble a competitive team at short notice, AFC Wimbledon held player trials on 29 June 2002 on Wimbledon Common, open to any unattached player who felt he was good enough to try out for the team. The event attracted 230 players, from whom the club's squad for their inaugural season was chosen.”

Interestingly Neither AFC Wimbledon nor the Milton Keynes club who closed the previous club down actually actively claim the 1988 FA cup triumph however it would be remiss not to revisit this triumph for the dons.

I hope we win this. As far as I'm concerned this is the Wimbledon that upset me by beating us one nil in '88 so I want a resounding win. And a clean sheet.

I see a lot of changes for this game. I'd go for:

Mignolet
Can Skrtel Lovren
Manquillo Gerrard Allen Enrique
Markovic
Balotelli Lambert

Or put in Ojo for Lambert to give him a game.

For me I can't wait to see what happens

It's important to me as a comp so if love us to just pick 2/3 lads max

Sinclair, rossiter would come to mind for example but I'd like us to win the game first

If we start just one and then see what line up to go with

I'd just go 4 at the back and get width from a markovic type player if those two donkeys are to play up top

Judging by the past few games, the Swansea game was an anomaly. This will be a Burnley/Leicester affair, draw and a replay.

The win actually belongs to MK Dons as that's the Wimbledon of old. Wimbledon AFC was/is () the new club setup in protest but is seen as the nowadays true Wimbledon.

Fed up of hearing about the crazy gang.

Every single year it gets dragged up.

Hope we put it to bed somewhat tomorrow.

0-3 Liverpool.

Quickness of play and speed of the forward players is the way to beat lower league teams.

Actually I hear all the Wimbledon fc memorabilia and such is with the council down plough lane way and will be handed over to Wimbledon if they get their permission to build at the dog track down there

Mk dons do not claim any of the former teams history

I think the fans of Wimbledon created a great victory for fans here and you know Cardiff and hull can see that telling those foreign gobshites out for fame and money can really be told to stuff it

Southampton show what doing the basics well is all about. Get rich quick schemes just don't work

I'm obviously well behind the fans against business ****s but this is not the original Wimbledon who we faced in the final. It is a new club and people pretending it's the same for the sake of a story is BS IMO. In its short life AFC Wimbledon has a great history of its own (and certainly way more than Chelsea).

I would not say that as they have been told from the outset that they were not good for football so have fought the authorities from day one. They also nearly ruined mk dons with protests on the other hand

In effect Wimbledon fc didn't cease to be in 2002 nor does it live in today, the mk dons own website shows they dropped all association with the old club in what 2006?

In the end afc Wimbledon have a great story but the defunct Wimbledon had it's own great story too

Personally 1988 didn't hurt that much cos we won the league that year so I don't mind the whole "reenactment" the the brings up

We will see basically. They are fan owned and that's a great thing to have in the league. I wish a few more teams would resist the eastern cash injection which us fake and turn to their fans and a ten year plan. Invest anything they get in bricks, mortar and facilities and develop players. The ruination of football for me is the likes of the Portsmouth owners, the ken bates' and thevinduan chicken farmers. Tan at Cardiff us a shameful individual and the guy at hull is a disgrace too. They all want their heads examined cos building a global brand in hull... FFs nuts.
