I think we'll win, but I'm thinking it will be by the odd goal. We seem to be able to do enough, even when pegged back. That's another one of those signs of a good/great/outstanding team. Hull can almost defend as well as Stoke, but without resorting to the physicality. But Saints are that good that they look as though they can score against practically anybody, at the moment. On Wednesday night, Steve Claridge was talking about Saints fluidity of movement and options on the ball. He spoke about Stoke being a first class opposition [PL side after all] and yet there were times [especially in the 1st half] when they simply could not live with Saints, and it was fantastic to watch. I quite agree. Hull may have to deal with that level. I don't see them doing it any better than Stoke, though they may have better success up the other end. Saints will have a full strength defence out though.
On the Forster stats, like a few others, I'm slightly concerned about Fraser. That 76% says a lot about the defence in front of him. He has a better save per shot ratio, but nobody measures the quality of shot received, and that's down to the opposition and the quality of defence in front of him. Put very bluntly and simply, merely to illustrate, to achieve those figures, the other keepers could have saved howitzer blasts and Fraser could have saved little trickles to his feet. Such is the way those stats misinform. But the truth is he's done well and, although like others, I'll continue to be a little concerned about Fraser, he clearly exudes confidence to his defenders, and that's worth a goal a game saved at the very least.
It is away yes, and I guess we will loose at some point, but I see us getting another 3 points here. I think we all respect Hull and the job that Steve Bruce has done there, and they are a useful side. Thing is, we are a bit more than useful at the moment, and confidence is clearly sky high.....1-0 Saints, maybe 2. I wouldn't be distraught at a draw though.
“People said it was a whole new squad and we were going to struggle this season, because there were so many new faces, but in a way, everybody kind of came in fresh and wanting to impress.'' The above quote was taken from Long's interview on OS. He makes a good point...perhaps it was easier having a new manager and half a new team. They all started together and learnt together...perhaps that is easier than being a player slotting into a team completely familiar with a certain style.
Tsk, you know you're not allowed to have any wobble about any player because we're winning, and it clearly means you know nothing about football. Honestly Fran...
Looks like Mane's in the squad - good news http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/407947/TEAM-NEWS-Hull-Southampton-Saido-Mane
Hi SaintinSerbia, i'm 50 miles down the road from you cheering on the tigers. Should be a good game tommorow.
So there is another crazy Englishman in Serbia! (you must be in Belgrade) When you're this far from home Hull vs Saints is like a local derby. Of course I'll let you know when Pelle scores his first hat-trick!
Do you think he will score more than one. Just been checking on sport klub but they're not showing our game live, so it will have to be a stream. Oh and if you pop over to our board and mention Hull v Saints best put your tin hat on, it's a Rugby thing.
Far too much confidence on this site for my liking Hull have soem really good players and we had a really hard game midweek. Offer me a draw and I'll bit yer hand off!
Results suggest we should feel confident, but teams don't win all their games even if they deserve to, so we could easily lose if we are off form or just plain unlucky. Not as if we win all our games 4-0. We will lose sometime, so it's a bit like waiting for the other shoe to drop. One game at a time and just hope it isn't this weekend.
Surprised our confidence is so high bearing in mind that two of the countries top pundits (Lawro and Merson) have predicted defeat!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
I think this will be a difficult game. Bruce was shocked by us last season and I think the way Hull have started, coupled with Bruce not wanting that happening again, they will be hard to beat.
Pelle's getting closer to 3 every game! Sport Klub is good but for teams like Hull and Saints we either need to be the early game, the late game or playing Chelsea! (although they do play all the games later - but I never know when)
Just heard the idiots at talkSport say they were concentrating on the THE game this weekend. And then, inexplicably they mentioned two sides from Manchester. There was I silently mouthing Hull v Saints. Confusing..!
It is so hard to speak with only positivity about the way Saints are playing right now, yes the is a definite chance of our bubble bursting, but it would have to effect the whole team, as there is not one weak link, and for one playing to go off the boil would not disasterly effect the team or results. The test will be playing the top boys, if we can come away evens from them games, then anything can happen this season!
And they have arrived at their conclusions by two completely different scientific methods as well. Lawrenson analysed the statistics and decided we were the better team, but because one of the possible outcomes is that we will lose, decided that we must lose. Merson, on the other hand, decided to ignore the statistics, and indeed all the evidence, and continue to be a complete twat.
