Yes, Ed Chamberlain is a rabid Saints fan, and it must take all his self control to not scream YEEEEEEHHAAAAA from the rooftops, but I think it is a fair assessment from him. We, ourselves don't know the limts of this team yet. I'm not sure even Koeman really knows. This team could break Saints records in the elite division. Only 21-22 hours and we'll find out a bit more.
I'm going for a draw in this one. In a fit of Lawrenson-esque logicality, because there's such a surfeit of confidence on here, we've got to fall on our faces a bit!
He hasn't really been playing. Brucey seems to be keeping faith with Livermore and Huddlestone. He still isn't up to 100% fitness either, but when he has played he has looked pretty decent. We have been playing 3-5-2 recently and he doesn't really fit into that but I would imagine he would fit into a diamond formation.
Just did a little bit of research. Turns out you played 4-4-2 in four of your last six league games, 5-4-1 against Arsenal and 3-5-2 against Palace. I didn't bother looking back further. You played 4-4-2 in your last game against Liverpool. This could easily be 4-4-1-1 with Ramirez behind Hernandez. Bruce appears to rate Ben Arfa higher. I'm surprised Ramirez hasn't been given a start at all.
One of those games where I don't give a monkies about the performance. I'd take a hideously scrappy and lucky 1-0 win all day long. This will not be easy, but it is winnable.
No it isn't. I can see the average player position map for all of the games....... Your last game (against Liverpool) is below please log in to view this image I'm not posting them all. It's open for debate whether it's 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1. With Arfa the furthest forward on average I'm inclined to call it 4-4-2. It's certainly not 3-5-2.
I'll be watching Annabelle at the cinema which should finish near full time, so won't be reading the updates. Not sure which will be scarier!
Looking forward to this. The end of November is when we finally start meeting the big teams so we need to make these matches count. Also just realised at the end of the month we have 4 PL games in a row on telly.
I should listen to Ron...he says take every game one at a time, but it keeps creeping into my head that every run of wins comes to an end. Silly really, because winning means you are more likely to win, not that you are less likely to. Hull are a good side (Ron says they are not like Stoke....little dig there ), but we have beaten teams of that calibre. Tough game, but predicting a draw or a 1-0/2-1 win...as long as we have learnt from letting those 2 goals in at Stoke (Fonte was pissed off about that).
Every game is there to be won or lost, it is about confidence, attitude and luck, we have bags of all three, Hull are lacking the first, that could swing it for us...hope!
You're still wrong. We have been playing 3-5-2. The numbers 5, 4 and 6 are Chester, Bruce and Davies, our three centre-backs. 27 and 11 are Elmohamady and Brady, our wing-backs. Clearly, what's confusing you is the fact that Elmo is very far forward whilst Brady is much deeper, one assumes? This is simply because Liverpool's right-winger, Raheem Sterling, is a very dangerous player. As such, Brady was largely man-marking him at Anfield (and did a good job in doing so) and couldn't get forward as often as he'd like due to the threat posed by Sterling. Whereas, on our right Elmo was encouraged to venture forward as much as possible. A further consequence of this, is Chester (5) drifting out towards the full-back position to cover Elmo, hence why you must have assumed he was playing right-back, which he wasn't. I hope this helps, but I can assure you we play 3-5-2 (you could argue 3-5-1-1 whilst Jela is out injured), regardless of what you may interpret from a heat map.
