If truth be told, I'm not completely in favour. For me, the Hull boundary should be extended outwards to take in the true suburbs of Cottingham, Willerby, Anlaby, Kirk Ella and Hessle.

It could be anyone of a number of recomendations, and the views of all affected would need to vote on the specific question, not two general questions.

Been saying this for years. Hull should have its suburbs, like most other cities do.

I reckon ER rate payers should be more concerned that they're not getting representation in the review.

That's a fair assessment, but the views of people living in those suburbs should be taken into consideration.

    And that won't ever change.

Reading this thread, and chatting to family, it seems to me the real obstacle isn't being part of Hull, its coming under the control of HCC. Hardly surprising given the current incumbents of that authority.

You could say that the ER residents want no more to do with HCC than Dr Allam in fact.

I do dislike the snobbery by some ER residents, and I've witnessed it at college a lot. The fact I'm from East Hull raises eyebrows and people end up asking me if it's really rough. Some of them are cheeky ****ers, but their voice should be heard if they want to remain under ERYC.

I've had people ask me where I'm from in the past, "Orchard Park", then they quite clearly looked me up and down to see if I was tooled up with a knife.

Maybe if they named a top flight football team like the regional capital and bought them a stadium it'd win them over?

I live in South Cave and even though it's a town full of massive ****ers, it's nothing to do with money. I work with people in Willerby and they've said the reason they don't want to be annexed is because the only council they've come across that's worse than East Riding is HCC. I agree Hull should have suburbs like other cities though, the City just doesn't feel big enough for the potential it has.

That's just as offhand as all the comments about Hull being a dump. Honestly, the ERCC are just as ****ing inept. People have just got into the habit of slagging off anything that's seen as Old Labour (even though it barely exists any more), in the same way that so many utter ****s got into the habit of assuming this city is a dump.

Presumably you then ask them to list all the other councils they've got experience of?

This is the problem. They base their opinions on virtually **** all.

You stupid boy, how **** would the attendance have been on Saturday if East Riding residents never turned up, I would guess half the crowd live outside Hull.

How many millions commute into London every day?

    Not necessarily.

See my previous post about opinions...

When it comes to demarcating the boundaries for an urban area, opinion shouldn't come into it; it's a simple matter of geography.

Perhaps this vote was the sound of the suburbs and all the members voted

    No course not. :bandit:

No one suggested it was...stop being so sensitive. Fact is, HCC *is* made up of and massively influenced by Old Labour. Tbh that isn't the actual problem, the problem is the specific Old Labour types are seen as a massive problem because of the way they manage their portfolios. You might not agree with that, but it *is* how they are seen.

    You mean like Humberside?
