A couple of people were being a bit silly.
The mods decided to hugely overreact.
Nobody agreed that their reaction was correct.
They then decided to say that it was because the people concerned had been ganging up on people (?)
By reacting by ganging up on the people concerned.
Some great posters decided enough was enough and are making a stand on principle.

It's not really the forums finest hour, but I fear the mods are now taking the "bunker down and let it blow over" route.

None of them have commented for a while. Hopefully Joe and Dan come back along with everyone else who's backing out. Some of the best and most knowledgable posters are going at the moment.
 
Basically, not for the first time this summer, people are questioning a board's communication strategy and their actions moving in to a new season...and a few key players have handed in transfer requests.

ridiculous, im off too then. im more of a lurker these days but joe is my man so im out.

the mods are getting too powerful here.

It's not the actual power that defines things, it's how it's wielded. This one was an obvious misjudgement sadly, but nobody seems prepared to rectify it in a sensible way.

Heh, there's much to be said for that analogy.

And while it's the equivalent of Tommy Forecast handing in a transfer request, as it appears that the mods have made their final statement on the matter, I too will bid adieu for the time being.

Likewise. I just hope a few lessons can be learnt off the back of it. Sometimes the big stick is really the most counterproductive thing to chuck about.

So now most long-term posters are upset with the situation, and are leaving for a while. I love how this metaphorically fits with our summer <laugh>

Seriously though, is it not going a bit far now? If it's causing people to leave...
