Erm I hope it will provoke a bit of debate? Otherwise you're attention seeking by posting at all <doh>

We're all here to debate and put our opinions across <ok>

Go have a debate then with your own fans and insult your own players.

You come on another teams forum insulting players then to me you do not want a debate you are attention seeking.

Your initial post was highly inflammatory so if not your intention you should think about what you write before posting

So, you assumed something from what I said, took it as offensive, and have thus descended into calling me inflammatory? I say we draw a line under that "argument" because you're wrong. I was attacked, and simply responded with a joke. End of story.

It's a shame you're ruining what could be a useful debate with that nonsense, because what you're saying about Boruc's ability is interesting. Lloris is the best in the business for quick off his line and is an all around tidy player. With Boruc it seems more like you can actually physically see him think, "ahhh f*** it" before he runs off after the striker

Look, I'm a harsh judge of goalies, because that's the position I played. It's maybe unfair saying he's ****e, but I mean that relatively speaking. A premier league goalie is a premier league goalie. They're not going to be awful players.

Yeah Boruc is probably the best keeper in one on one situations I've seen at Southampton. I certainly wouldn't say his entire one on one style is switching his brain off and sprinting at the ball.

Can you drop the goalkeeper sanctimony though? Unless you played it to a respectable level, it matters **** that you played in goal and it doesn't mean your opinion on keepers is gospel.

I've never said Krul was one of the best keepers <ok>

In fact, if you look through my posting history, you'll see I'm in the 50% of Newcastle fans that think he's not actually all that. His distribution is poor, he's not the best shot-stopper unless shots are straight at him or poorly struck (he's big), and he's fairly poor when one-on-one. Like I said, though, I think he's the best in the league at collecting crosses when he's on form. It's actually breath-taking. Awful puncher though.

One thing about save stats. If Joe Hart saves 70% of 20 shots on target in 31 games, will he have less clean sheets than Mannone who saves 78% of 90 shots on target in 29? Does having a higher PERCENTAGE actually mean much? No. Because an unstoppable shot is unstoppable no matter who is in goal. If you get more unstoppable shots, you look worse than someone have tame efforts straight at them.

I think it's ridiculously unfair for people to be suggesting Boruc was the sole reason for many outstanding defensive displays. I can give you about fifty million reasons why that isn't the case ;)

That's why I think Poch will be a good fit at Spurs. He's got clever tactical systems which involve defending properly, although everyone else always gives the attacking exploits of Southampton all the plaudits, and Spurs have always been leaky against the top clubs, so it should be a good fit.

Off you go then.

You're not acting like a member of the goalkeepers union. Boruc has an eccentric personality but his goalkeeping is actually based on sound decision making. You will very rarely see him flap towards a cross or charge out of goal and leave himself in trouble.
The vast majority of his errors are with his kicking and that stems from a little over confidence and a bit of poor technique

Lovren and Shaw... How did you not get that fella? <laugh>

hardly subtle!

You should have included Wanyama. If you watched us as much as you say, you'd know he was integral to our defence, evidenced by the fact that it went downhill after he got injured.

49,999,997 to go.

You've misinterpreted things massively. I say that because, when you've played the position, at whatever level, you know a bit more about it in my opinion. When I watch games, and the commentator is in full on orgasm about a save I know I could have made easily, it's irritating. Particularly as goalkeeping is so little studied by fans and pundits. Positioning is such an important skill, as well as "handling" and "aerial ability", to use FM terminology. I think it adds to the idea of my perspective, and why I'm interested in such transfers. Whether you like that in a post or not is up to you. I just like it <ok>

This is the current debate on "MY" board about Forster.
http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/272556-Forster

I came here to discuss goalies, on a goalie related thread. I realise that's highly illogical <laugh>, but if you want to talk favourite types of keeper, who you like and dislike in the league, who you like from other leagues etc, I'm willing to talk about it and express my views. If you want to sit around taking pot-shots at me because I've had the utter temerity to support a different club and still have an opinion on your players, then save it, you're ruining the thread <ok>

It's not highly inflammatory for me to not rate your players. They aren't your children <laugh>. Go on, tell me which players at Newcastle are ****e! I wouldn't care. I find it weird you take it to heart like that.

For the record. I once posted on here on a thread in which we discussed which players would make a Saints/Newcastle combo. Most of our players were considered "****e", so don't be so hypocritical and let's talk opinions please.

Wiling to bet rest of board will agree with me when I say it is only you ruining the thread!

Erm... how much were Shaw and Lovren sold for? <laugh>

Penny might just have dropped now yeah? Hahahaha

Seeing as you brought it up, Wanyama impresses me everytime I watch him. He's fantastic, and was at Celtic. Shame he got injured, but I look forward to seeing him in action again.
He reminds me of the first time I saw Tiote play for us, although Wanyama is taller and more naturally athletic. I wonder who gets through more Kms at peak fitness, because if I had to compare the two, even though I like Tiote and his importance to the team, Wanyama is probably the better player. Tiote's most important contribution is that he runs an extra 1-2km per game than other midfielders. This was tactically significant because it allowed Pardew to play just Cabaye (who also had one of the highest Km/game rates) and Tiote in midfield against teams playing 4-5-1, so we had a spare to play Ba and Cisse together, or later to play Sissoko as a winger, even though he's a lazy ****.

Laura. You have not once offered your opinion on goalkeepers, just insisted on attacking my posts instead. Boring. You're on my ignore list now

I'm tickled pink. Don't think I have ever been ignored before. You boys are all very friendly and funny and banter with me
