Reading between the lines, it looks like Sunderland fans have just been responding to tweets from the likes of seahorses (then punch the buggers) and co, who have been spouting off that he is not good enough for Newcastle.

Jack C is okay a reasonable DM or part time LB (nickname is pass back mind)

Jack R has potential to be better...but now has to prove it.

Surprised if you were offered JR a month or so ago did not go for him.

I'm not £10 million for someone who could be injury prone. Mike Ashley is our chairman you know.

I can't see why we would go for him when that's part of the squad we are strong and would not need him rodwell has the potential and could be a great signing however IMO is 10m is high as is the wages for a player who sick record has been diabolical for over two seasons.
Only time will tell on this one it would be good for England if rodwell could get his act together.

Has it though? Not something to do with a midfield with the likes of yaya toure et all. Apparently he missed 5 games to injury last season which is nothing out of the primary for anyone.

That's the impression I have got but as I say time will tell as we know both clubs could sign Messi and ronaldo and they would not reproduce their top draw ability so who knows

Didn't say it, let alone "spouting off" – I don't why I'm bothering to write this actually, you'll not read it.

You've "read between the lines" but ignored the lines.

I've only responded as Newcastle fans have, nowt controversial – our midfield is overstocked and spending £10m on a player we don't need is hardly Mike Ashley's style.
It remains to be seen whether he's good enough to play for Sunderland, in the same way it is for Cabella, De Jong, Colback, Janmaat, Ferreyra, Perez, Riviere or whoever else for NUFC this summer.

It is my opinion that on actual evidence over hyperbole he would not "walk into our team" ahead of the likes of Anita etc who can't get in themselves and they're already at the club!
Unless you're reserve team coach at Manchester City you've not had a glimpse of him for 2 years.

Listen I frankly couldn't give two figs who Sunderland sign, I'm just fair and pragmatic regarding NUFC and football generally.
If you're happy and excited about him as a player then terrific, but I'm not going to lie on our own board that I'd have wanted us to buy Jack Rodwell let alone for £10m.

Got no reason to think he won't do a job for Sunderland, genuinely wish him well because I'm not fussed either way! :D

If he plays to his potential he's worth £20m.

If he pulls his hamstring getting out of bed he's worth jack ****.

At least he has undoubted quality, which is a step up for us on the transfer policy front.

Yep, although I think he'll have to perform and quickly to justify £10m though tbh.

I suppose it's a measure of how crazy inflated the market has gone, whereby very ordinary lads are often rated at £5m, £8m, £10m and then seemingly written off at that cost too.

We talk about these fees as if it's matchsticks or peanuts when it's still eye-watering finances isn't it? Quite wrong.

On the other foot it's "NUFC have managed a 'bargain' in comparison getting Remy Cabella for £7m" but come on, it's still silly outlay for any business to shoulder.

It's YOUR money folks so we should be glad to a point they are careful about handing it over so frivolously to rival firms!

(Although I'd still rather that than Mike Ashely's pockets)

Well after losing Colback, KI etc we needed a midfielder and he should be good for us, no wonder he could not get into the Man c team with their quality, he was great at Everton, and Tiote is probably equall out of all you midfielders to him.

True, but he was signed on a free, so it was a less risky gamble. If he had a £10m price tag I bet Ashley wouldn't have sanctioned the deal.

Rodwell is probably more comfortable on the ball, but less combative than Cheick.

Really we don't have a midfielder to compare him to

    What drugs are you on?

Really couldn't give a rats arse about who the Mackems sign. They don't have a particulary good record in the transfer market.

OK you have convinced us by responding that you could not care who Sunderland sign, I do not care who Liverpool sign so I must make a comment on their board to let them know
