SUMMER 2K14 Transfer Rumour Thread...

Whether you believe it or not is irrelevant, superstition is a massive part of football and WOULD influence a players response in such a high pressured situation. If it was someone that didn't take a penalty at all then its slightly different.

It's got nothing to do with believing it or not , these are highly paid professionals representing their country they should do as asked by their manager. GUTLESS.

The manager shouldn't be giving them a choice. Van Gaal took the credit with the Krul thing so has to take the criticism for this... #blamethemanager

Anyway on to more interesting things

Davies and Bony from Swansea? Ok players but are they what we want?

And this about Schneider....

Galatasaray have admitted that they would be powerless to prevent Wesley Sneijder leaving if they receive an offer of 20million euros (£16million).

Too expensive for me . Maybe 3/4 years ago

Davies = no thanks.

Bony = he'd be a good squad player for us providing another option but I'd rather see us sign a better or younger player instead, preferably both <laugh>

Sneijder = I'd have loved us to have got Sneijder a couple of years ago or more but not now, he's best it.

Well at least we agree on this :emoticon-0102-bigsm

looking forward to the beebs top of the table standings again this season coming up.

wonder how far it will go down this time lol.

I think Bony would be a good 20 goals a year striker if he stays fit. Davies though. ...good god no. Is that the level of our ambition these days?

I can see us p***ing the Suarez money up the wall at this rate on second rate, Aspas quality players.

On the penalties: **** superstition, this is a chance to reach the WC final, time for the best players to step up. It is cowardly, imo, to let someone else take the blame. All credit to Vlaar, he had a great game and was willing to be the fall guy if that's what it came to. Even though he missed, he can hold his head high.
On Kuyt: he gave his usual honest display. Was fine on the right in the first half, but looked lost when out on the left in the second. He had to keep cutting in to try to find a cross with his right and they just didn't come off. And he's never had the pace to take people on.

My anti-Utd bias might be influencing this thought- but perhaps the mighty LVG is not quite the tactical genius the Beeb and others are hoping for. And publicly blaming his players -even if it's true- is not the thing to do, imo.
Well, at least Utd have a suitable hate-figure for next season, I just felt sorry for Hapless Dave.
So back to normal in that sense, at least.

P.S. Wrong thread for this, but it is discussed higher up.

"Arsenal fume as Alexis Sanchez deal delayed by Luis Suarez's Liverpool exit to Barcelona"

Hah! Let's not sell him and really piss them off!

Can't the rumour mongers at least pretend we're looking at some good players? Arsenal (having signed Sanchez) are after Kheidira or Bender. Utd apparently have an infinite amount of money to spend and are after Ric Rodriguez and Vidal. Meanwhile we're going to sell our best player and sign... Ben Davies and Wilfred Bony. Just the WORST. EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE.

Well according to his comments he said that he asked two who didn't want to take penalties so I don't think gutless is harsh. And it still doesn't answer the question as to why Vlaar went first. Surely Robben, huntelaar or whoever have enough experience to take a pen. Superstition...bollocks and if that's the case it probably cost them a place in the final.
As for kuyt. Yes he was ok first half but as he spent the next 75 mins at LWB then I judge him on that and he was poor. Not his fault I'd like to add because the guy would play in goal ( and probably do better with the pens) if asked.

the dutch v costa rica were:

rvp
robben
sneidjer
kuyt

we do not know the fifth guy.. he was probably known but i don't know here.

yesterday rvp was taken off

the other 3 were exactly the same line up.

so there was a direct swap of vlaar for RVP..... the others seems sequenced to me.

In any event.... ok you win the toss, great, how do you decide who goes first is OPINION, just remember that. I myself do agree your best man should go first as you need to get the goal on the boad.. but equally sending the volunteer up first with less pressure makes sense.

I think just personally players who refuse a pen are guys i just don't want on the pitch cos really kuyt might be gash and slow but the attitude and lack of fear means he'll try and create for you and be positive right throughout the 120mins as well.

IMO only huntelaar is the unknown here. I would like to know if he was up 5th. if so really you can only as about georgino as a midfielder and the rest would be defenders after all the Dutch parked the bus.

I feel argentina were no great shakes so the 5-3-2 line up was parking it in fear of messi IMO

Sevilla have offered Liverpool around £5m for striker Iago Aspas, according to the Daily Star .

The Reds would like to at least recoup the £7m they paid Celta Vigo for his services last year - but are ready to cut their losses on the Spaniard.

Aspas scored just one goal for Liverpool last season, in the FA Cup victory over Oldham, and struggled to make an impact at Anfield.

Add another £70m Seville.

Why dont we include him in the Moreno deal?

-

France midfielder Antoine Griezmann has put Liverpool FC and a whole host of other clubs on alert after declaring that he could leave Spanish side Real Sociedad, reports the Daily Mirror .

The World Cup star would cost around £25m after his performances in Brazil caught the eye.

The 23-year-old could also be a target for Paris Saint Germain and Arsenal have had him watched in the past.

Brendan Rodgers could be ready to make a move for Swansea left-back Ben Davies after a move for Alberto Moreno stalled, according to Wales Online .

The 21-year-old would be available for around £10m and Rodgers could move for a player he knows well from his time in South Wales.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly held an interest, but if Liverpool do submit a firm offer Davies could instead head to Anfield.

With him being a regular and decent penalty taker, I'd imagine he was up fifth.
