David Ornstein ‏@bbcsport_david 2m Arsenal have approached several clubs with the intention of signing on players. Stéphane Sessègnon now a target. #bbcsportsday #afc
Arsenal have passed on Fabregas: www.bbc.com/sport/football/27720171 - I believe it as it's BBC. While certain members will be happy, this is a huge mistake. The one thing Ozil needs is another stellar player in the team to take the pressure off him. As Arsenal don't look like signing a top draw striker (where was the bid for Costa??) Fab would have been a great alternative giving strength in depth and tactical variation aplenty. Passing on Fab makes no sense unless he's planning to go somewhere other than England and represents a huge gamble by Wenger. Gutted.
Looks like he is PL bound too, so if Arsenal have passed, means he will probably be either with us or United next season.
If it's true then its a big Wenger mistake and something Arsenal will regret should Cesc come to the EPL.
Could it not just mean we passed on the opportunity to buy Cesc back for 35 million, but it doesn't mean we still can't buy him back for less if that makes sense.
eh? It means you've told Barca you won't be exercising a buy back clause. I can't see him in a Chelsea shirt to be honest.
I'm not fussed if Wenger doesn't sign Cesc as I don't think he's needed; I will be fussed if one of the other English teams does though.
Technically he could still turn any offer down. Just cos Barca are willing to sell, doesn't mean that he's got to move.

I think people underestimate how big an impact Fabregas will have at Chelsea or United. In my opinion Mourinho's Chelsea with Fabregas would match our squad for creativity while being a) tactically superior and b) defensively superior. He's an Arsenal legend and still hitting his peak. Winning trophies is about being competitive both on the pitch and in the transfer market. I'm not sure our Club knows how to do this anymore. I won't be suprised if we pass on this deal and end up signing subpar French players (Loic Remy) It's a telling transfer window. We know for a fact Wenger has money is he even capable of using it competitively these days?.. I guess we will soon find out.
It better be an indication that we are keeping the money to sign quality players in other areas, which I far prefer. However if we pass on him and sign average players I will be livid. It hurts us twice over and if he joins a direct rival thrice over. This better mean Benzema, Bender, Di Maria, Reus are the level of names the board is bandying about and not Remy, Williams.
We're getting Remy, Willams and a RB, most likely Aurier. That'll be it. I'm slowly preparing myself for this to be the case on transfer deadline day so I don't slit my wrists. It's certainly not something I could deal with in one day
David Ornstein has said that Arsenal are trying to sign a right back, a striker, a backup keeper and might buy a defensive mid if the 'right deal' is available, but aren't in the market for an attacking mid which rules both Reus and Di Maria out.
There's no chance of a title push if that's what we end up with. Chelsea will strengthen in the right Areas and United will be back in the race under Van Gaal.
It just seems unlikely to me that our Club is capable (or willing?) of bringing in multiple World Class players. (which is what we will need if Chelsea and United land their targets) Higuain, Mata, Hazard, Suarez, Bender, Gotze are ALL recent examples of top players we have gone for and failed to sign. We seem to bumble through negotiations and play hardball on prices which should be negotiable. I have no faith in Gazidis so the possibility of having first refusal on one of the best players around seems like an idea we should be taking advantage of. We have an advantage with Cesc financially and emotionally. Admittedly it's not the position we need to strengthen in the most but a player of his quality instantly pushes the team up a level.
I can't believe we are going to sign World class players its just not Wengers Style Ozil excepted I really wanted us to sign Cesc Can we really depend on Wiltshire for a whole season. If we allow the chavs to have Cesc we really are Leaderless at the top of the club. Shocking and as for having too many in midfield you could build a team around that guy absolutely shocking these people at Arsenal know Fu.k All
Arsenal need head turners to take the pressure off Ozil, to sell shirts, and because you pay the price for the best players - and they deliver. Yes, there are some flops, but you have to speculate to accumulate. They have already missed out on Costa, and now they appear to be missing out on Fabregas. Two players who would have been perfect for Arsenal. Wenger needs to pull something out of the bag, as with Ozil, though that sadly always smacked of being opportunistic rather than part of some great plan.
