I don't think Arsenal's world is one where you can spend £30m+ (as well as a few years of wages) in order for another team not to get a player - one who'd play in a position we really don't need to strengthen at that - without weakening the budget for players elsewhere.

We brought in Kallstrom. Arteta is 32 and has a turning circle like an articulated lorry. Wilshere is injury prone and Rosicky is also on his way out.

We will be needing another CM within the next 12 months.

Has anyone else picked up on these Cavani rumours ?
No question PSG will have to balance their books somehow and they're not binning Ibra....

Arteta will need replaced soon, but is Cesc really the best candidate to play alongside Ramsey in the DM department? Arteta is our top tackler, and it seems a little mad to me to replace that with someone who's more attack-minded, especially considering how many years we've been bashing Wenger for not buying a proper defensive mid...

Surely a DM should be the top priority?

The problem is the Ozil transfer was more flukey than something that was preplanned by our management, so our expectations have increased to unrealistic proportions. We're all talking about top World Class players yet our track record of signing top players is dreadful. We supposedly have first refusal on Cesc, yet there is literally nothing coming out of the club. I guess nothing changes there. I suspect this will be another excruciating summer transfer where our management will dither all the way till the end and get bargain bucket suckers.

I honestly think we won't sign anyone. Wenger's a ****ing tool, he probably thinks winning the cup means this squad can win the league.

So do I. He's already lining up bullshit excuses like you can't buy anyone when the WCs on, yet Chelsea pulled off a stunning signing of Costa. Liverpool is also negotiating on signings, I don't think anyone told them that you can't do anything on a WC year...

I don't think we need a DM. Plenty of teams play without one.

One of the advantages of a 4231 is that the midfield roles are more interchangeable.

Wilshere will end up playing from deep and Flamini has been quality (and underused) this Season.

I would happily add a top physical midfielder like Bender or Martinez but I doubt we will land anyone of that calibre.

I guess my biggest issue is that Fabregas is a rare World Class talent that we CAN land. (If we pay the required transfer)
I'm doubtful as to wether we will land anyone else of that calibre.

According to Ivan Gazidis at the AST meeting last night,Arsenal spent a lot of time working on the Ozil transfer.Whether people choose to believe him or not is a different matter.

A lot of time, do you mean by saving money? I don't believe for one second that we were after him until he miraculously became available from Real. The whole transfer was flukey mate and was totally out-of-character for us.

Certainly nothing to be gained from lying/misleading the AST, and safe in the knowledge that his every word will make it into the public domain....

Would love to have Cesc back to be honest. Seeing him in a Chelsea shirt would be wrong.

    From the article:
Manager Arsene Wenger was keen on a reunion with Fabregas but does not want to pay more than £25m for the player.

    Your manager is f**king insane.
A world class midfielder in his prime that has history with the club and knows its workings, and he wont shell out more than £25m.......

If he is that good then why are barca selling him, sorry but the way some on here are talking its like he is the second coming of christ himself. I seem to remember his level dropped for us that last season or two, which i put down to him wanting away, so the question has to be asked, if he is as good as some are making out why are barca prepared to get shot for less than they paid for him?

    Crock of ****e I reckon.

As was mentioned on here before, Arsenal don't have to show any interest in Fabregas they just need to wait for another team to do so and then if Barca want to sell we have first refusal. We don't have to go chasing him.

Also, of Arsenal weren't interested in buying him back, why do you think they inserted the buy back clause ? Another factor is that if Barca do want to sell, they will try to make sure it's to Arsenal in order to ensure that they get the full transfer fee and we don't cream off any of it from them selling to another club.

At the moment, nobody knows anything about what Barca and Fabregas will do. It's silly season, so the two bit hacks just fill in the blanks with any old ****e to get clicks and reads.

Although having said that I would be surprised if Wenger was in for another creative midfielder given that we need a RB and a CF

It wouldn't surprise me if Barcelona haven't even decided to sell Fabregas yet.

The transfer rumour mill has got so bad. The BBC are no better than anyone else. I really doubt if Arsenal (or any other team) have made any irrevocable decisions about transfers at this early stage in proceedings.
