Does Costa passing his medical, PSG signing Luiz & Liverpool signing Lambert not count as "irrevocable?"
I just get the feeling that Wenger isn't going to buy another creative mid. My heart says bring Fabregas back to Arsenal, but the head says prioritise a CF and RB and if we can DM. I'd be overjoyed if Cesc did come back, but I think we have to concentrate on the areas that need strengthening.
Laurent Koscielny tells Arsene Wenger to sign FOUR players including a top striker "We'll need a goalkeeper, a right back, a midfielder and a striker," said Koscielny at France's pre-World Cup training camp. "It's important to have a minimum of these four players so that we'll be better able to challenge over the course of a whole season against teams like Manchester City, Chelsea or [Manchester] United. Winning the FA Cup can change things and lead to other players coming." "Yes, we need to recruit a very, very good striker, because it's important for us, for competition for places, because Olivier needs that to become even better," said Koscielny. "Having a striker who scores more than 30 goals a season can help us win the Premier League. Compared to the squads like Manchester City, even United, Chelsea. ... You can see there's a certain difference." Looks like one of our main players has come out with what all of us have been saying for a while. But the likelihood of us buying 4 top players, let alone 2 is not happening (i'm referring to top quality and not bargain basement buys) . He also has an indirect dig at Giroud, saying he needs the competition bollocks. Which really translates to he's too **** for us.
The way I see it is that Fabregas is better than almost every player in our squad. I appreciate CM isn't a position we need to strengthen first but if you've the opportunity to improve then do so. He's a world class player (imo) and the chance to bring in such talent doesn't come around very often. I think he'd bring a massive wave of optimism to the club similarly to the Ãzil capture. I can see the reverse being true should another English club buy him. I know Arsenal fans are generally pessimistic by nature but I can see a pretty ugly reaction should it come to pass. Also, before people go on about our other priorities I say f*ck that. I refuse to believe we can't afford to bring in a forward, RB and DM along with Cesc. ...but I very much doubt we will and expect me to avoid the public/forum for a good long while until I've calmed down and can be civil.
You're right, I'm sure the money is there for Fabregas too - an exceptional player who would certainly enhance the squads of your main rivals !!!
That's the issue really isn't it? How many times have Arsenal lost out on a quality player due to either cannot match the transfer fee, player wages, or players don't feel its an attractive proposition; and yet here is a world class player who Arsenal are in pole position for and may knock back that chance!!! I can see other areas need fixing and improving first; however Utd will be better next year, Chelsea will improve in the games they messed up in through lack of a striker, even City will possibly improve now Pellegrini is settled and the pressure is off.........if Fabregas joins any of those then he improves them even more, and the gap that has been closed last season, suddenly opens up yet again!!
How hasn't Cesc been signed by anyone yet? He's supposedly been available for a week. I thought it was only Arsenal transfers that took a long time...
I can't believe that year after year you guys get worked up by these press reports. Yes there have been signings, but no one in the press is privy to who teams are signing or what they are deciding. This is all guesswork and rumour. Yes they may turn out to be true, but that will only be by luck. Stop hitting these sites and giving them a credibility they do not deserve.
I actually agree with this! I guess its understandable though, some of the 'journos' stuff actually comes true!
You can generally get a sense of which rumours have any credibility and which dont just by reading them. Depends on where you are reading the story, if its a rag like the Sun, the Mirror, the Daily Fail, chances are its BS unless it has also been reported on more credible sites like BBC Sport or SSN. Also a story is far more likely to be true if it had direct quotes from the individual whom the piece is about. If its BS they usually use phrases like, "It is understood...." "Is thought to be...." and also if the quote isnt from a named person but quoted as "Sources say...." or "Insiders claim....."
I tend to focus on actual quotes. So for example we have Mourinho saying about Fabregas: “I am interested in studying FÃ bregas’ situation,” Mourinho said. “I think he is anxious to leave Barcelona and motivated to return to England. I think that is clear.” The 51-year-old added: “Whether he is going to sign for Chelsea or for another club, that is not a subject to be discussed today, tomorrow or before the World Cup.” So it seems to me, totally premature to even talk about this team or that team signing or not signing him. I doubt if anything regarding FÃ bregas is going to be resolved before the world cup based on that quote. I know a lot of fans have fears about us signing players but at this stage that is all we have, fear, and other fans and web sites will prey on that. But lets look on the bright side, at least every damn report doesn't say "...seeking to end their 9 year barren run..." in it!
I make no apologies for getting suckered into transfer gossip each season. I know it's going to happen no matter how much I try and resist it so nowadays I just go along for the ride. My blood pressure could do without it mind. The only rule I have is to avoid clicking any links to Talksport, goal.com or the Daily Mail. They ain't getting my hits the twats.
A few papers today have us in for Insigne. Really decent player, watched him a fair bit this season for Napoli.
