It's not Caulker I've got the issue with, it's bloody Smalling. He's been **** for Man U and he's only got 10 caps so he isn't being taken for his existing experience. At least with Cole over Ward there'd be that argument, there's just no good reason for Smalling to be ahead of Davies or Caulker, and yet I can see him being the only one of the 3 to actually be included.

He can play right back, albeit it badly

No manager of a national side with established international players is going to give a player his debut at 29 in a world cup finals.

Davies knows that and accepts it.

Not 100% true..

Always a chance:
Alec Morten- 41
Leslie Compton- 38
Steve Bould- 31
Kevin Davies- 33
Chris Powell- 32
Bill Nicholson- 32
Marcos Senna- 30
Steve Savidan- 30
Ronnie Simpson- 36
Bill Lacey- 37

Shaw?

Johnson will, and Walker, Naughton, and Jones can also play right back. Jones is going to be in the squad as a centreback, so pick Johnson and one of the Spurs lads and we don't need another centreback that can play out wide.

See, this is why we say it's just because Davies plays for Hull City.

Caulker has done well in a Cardiff side that concedes a shedload of goals. Davies has been a big part of a defence that doesn't concede goals at an equally small club. What does Davies have to do to be considered as good as Caulker? It really does seem as though, in the neutral's eyes, if you play for Hull City you can't be that good.

Do you not think the rest of your side and Bruce and the coaching team deserve credit?

Chris Smalling is in a side that concedes less goals than you, should he go to Brazil?

That's not the same argument. Look at the table, Smalling's playing in a side that you would expect to have more high quality players. The reason they're struggling this season (by their standards) is because the likes of Smalling and Cleverley and one or two others are not of the quality you would expect at Man Utd. That and the fact that quite a number of their older players have suddenly passed the point of no return.

He has been playing with Figeuroa LB and Elmo RB for most of the season, it's not like he's been in a team of brilliant defenders. He has played much better than Caulker and Smalling this season.

This is my point.

The reason why Man United are above you is because they're a better team. Not because Smalling/Jones are better than Davies.

The reason why Hull are above Cardiff is because they're a better team. Not because Davies is better than Caulker.

Whilst speaking of our CB's, I thought Chester looked a lot better today. Read the game well and played some good balls out of defence. He's been a bit wobbly since he came back from injury but he showed today, he's got the ability to form a great partnership with Davies.

I know Davies has suggested that he is more comfortable in a back four and I suspect the same applies to Chester. He was more like his old self today, got beaten by Fletcher in the air a couple of times but got some great tackles in and his all round game was much better than recently.

But we have a better defence than them. By far. Even despite Figueroa.

If you'd watched us as much as you say you have, you'd realise that the reason we've occupied a mid table spot most of this season, is down to the fact that our defensive unit has been outstanding and Davies has been the most consistently high performing component in that.

I don't know how much you've seen of Caulker but from what I've seen, on current form, he's not as good as Davies.

You obviously have a deep seated issue with Davies from the past that seems to be making it difficult for you to see the reality of the situation.

Yes, but you've also been doing well because Mcgreggor, Rosenoir, McShane (wouldn't have guessed that) and even Chester. While I think Davies has been the pick of the bunch, I don't think he's done as well as other English defenders. This is my opinion.

I've seen a fair amount of Caulker and he'd still get into the Spurs squad. He's working with absolute ****e (Marshall aside). Not to mention the troubles the squad has had both on and off the pitch. They also lack Tom Huddlestone.

I haven't got a problem with Davies at all. He was excellent with the fans when he was at Leicester.

Just be honest Andy, you just want to annoy City fans.

What makes you think that Macca?
