Anyone hear his comments about Curtis going to the World Cup? He said Steve Bruce must have had a beer at half time if he thinks Davies has got a chance of going to the World Cup. He isn't world class and isn't good enough. I usually think keanes ok but I think he's harsh and wrong on this one, ok so maybes Curtis isn't world class but how many of our defenders are? Other than Cahill id argue he's as good as jagielka, better than smalling better than Phil jones better than than caulker. It's purley down to the fact he plays for hull city
Usually agree with Roy but not this time, ye he's not Baresi but easily good enough for the England squad.
Yes I just got home to hear that comment, Curtis Davies is as good as or better than Jagielka/Smalling/Phil Jones only Cahill and John Terry are better.
I see Keane's point. Curtis could improve his chances of an international call up by singling out an opponent and inflicting a premeditated career ending injury upon them. Keane is an utter twat.
It's a conspiracy I tells ya. He's trying to get him to play for Ireland. Now it's Woy verses Roy. The winner takes the Davies.
Rpy Keane wasn't worthy of going to a World Cup. If he wasn't Irish he wouldn't have gone and when he did the soft twat walked out.
He's not wrong, but what he should have pointed out is that only Baines and Ashley Cole are world-class out of England's back-four (and they're vying for the same ****ing position)
Keane isn't a good pundit. Everybody praises him because of his "honesty" when in actual fact he just says something that most people will have their backs turned by to get a reaction. That's all he does, looks for the biggest reaction.
Gordon Strachan - "He plays for Man Utd and, if you do that, there's an automatic place in my Scotland squad" - regarding Darren Fletcher at a recent press conference Unfortunately I think this is how Woy thinks to an extent, with the amount of underperforming Man Utd players he picked in the last squad amongst other "big name" players who didn't deserve call ups. For this simple stupid reason, I think this is why Davies (amongst other England hopefuls currently playing well) won't get anywhere near the World Cup squad in the summer.
No manager of a national side with established international players is going to give a player his debut at 29 in a world cup finals. Davies knows that and accepts it.
He was the only person who thought Nani deserved to be sent off against Madrid. Used to like him but gone off him hugely in the past few years as his punditry really is poor.
Didnt see it - hope to catch the highlights tonight if i stay awake had a few ales today CD may not be world class , but in its current state England is just an averagely good squad (internationally) and one that Davies could and should get in . Has there been 4 better english centrebacks this season ? Most players are in the England squad based on two things their previous reputation or the name of the club they play for .
Makes me wonder just how many times that idiot Keane has actually seen Curtis play this season. If there's a better English CH than Cahill or Terry (who isn't going) I haven't seen him. And I'm sure Bruce would agree. Hope SB is making his thoughts known to Woy. There's still time to get him in the squad for Brazil.
i saw it. so davies has the highest average rating of any english central defender in the premier league and it's not enough. and, let's face it, clubs lower down the league tend to do more defending than the clubs, like chelsea, whose players do get picked. john terry probably only has to defend against 4 or 5 teams during a season. so davies has the highest rating despite doing more defending. keane is a bit thick at times.
Last week Deano in his column in the HDM said Davies wasn't a good enough footballer to play for England which baffled me. Other then Cahill he's every bit as good on the ball as the others.
Whilst speaking of our CB's, I thought Chester looked a lot better today. Read the game well and played some good balls out of defence. He's been a bit wobbly since he came back from injury but he showed today, he's got the ability to form a great partnership with Davies.
