Interesting article about Bendtner: http://www.theguardian.com/football...ner-psychopath-reputation-new-club?CMP=twt_gu

Not really anything linking him to us, but if he was going to go to Palace he's very much obtainable, and his occasional appearances for Arsenal this season have actually been quite impressive.

Still a dick though, so no thanks. We need a star striker who will not be a disruptive influence. It's sad how difficult those seem to be to come across nowadays.

Mind you, it would almost be worth it for the fun and games if we couldn't sell Osvaldo. Imagine those two up front - the ego will well and truly have landed.

Well that's the point of the article, he's saying he's not disruptive anymore. Obviously he would say that, but if you take the premise of the article at face-value, he'd be a decent signing for someone.

Surprised at the enmity towards Bendtner to be honest. He's had his issues in the past but he's a good player. He's scored a goal every 82 minutes in the premier league this season, and about the same for Denmark over the past couple of years. The suggestion that anyone would be happier to see us relegated to league one than sign him is pretty ridiculous.

I don't expect it to happen, but if we're looking for a 20-goal striker, and not looking to break the bank, we could do a lot worse in my opinion.

He probably does have the ability to score 20 goals a season, but so does Osvaldo. I'd be uncomfortable signing someone who is yet to prove he can slot into a team and just go about his job in a professional manner without being a disturbance and a media whore.

If we were to sign him in the summer then I'd hardly be slitting my wrists but I would be pretty pessimistic.

He is simply one of my (personal) worst players of the PL era. How he lasted so long in the Arsenal matchday team/squad was a mystery to me. He simply would not solve our problem, as he is a very wasteful striker. Would just add to the profligacy that exists in our team at the moment. Does not have the right profile to slot in - he's a journeyman for one, which brings attitude and motivation issues; he has off-field problems (of course he says he doesn't - he's angling for a move); he has an ego that would probably cause him problems in moving to a less historically successful team than Arsenal, and we do not need superiority complexes; add to that the fact that ponytail concoction he calls his hairstyle is supremely offensive to the eye. We should be aiming on the whole to compete for at least the secondary targets of top four clubs rather than eyeing their third choice strikers (not that we are, I know).

Have to agree don't rate Bendtner and you could easily argue that playing for Arsenal his strike rate should be miles higher.

You misread what I wrote, I said I would be more sad than the day we got relegated, not that it would be happy to be back there. I would be upset purely because of the horrendous amount of stick received and the jokes that we would become the butt of.

In terms of his ability, I think he is way below our level already. He only ever scores tap ins which he regularly gets in front of such an outstanding team. For us, he would be asked to provide more than that, and he would struggle.

I strongly believe that if you swapped lambert for bendtner in the arsenal team, that lambert would score loads more goals than bendtner has because he is by far the better player. And why sign a player that is worse than we already possess?

I can quite understand why people would prefer not to sign him, I'm not seriously suggesting we should (though I wouldn't mind personally) but some of the things that are being said are pretty hilarious:

His strike rate should be miles better than more than a goal a game?

His record for Denmark is just as good if not better and they are not by any definition outstanding.

Can we stop playing the "goal a game" card? 2 goals is not a sufficient sample size, and in the rest of his club career he's far from a goal a game record.
