What are you trying to say? That Pardew cannot do anything right

If people are going to be outraged, at least they should find something that genuinely causes outrage, not rubbish like this. I'll tell you something, my esteem for Pardew has gone up a few notches since yesterday.

One of the problems with Newcastle and their supporters is that they are simply too soft. We let the likes of Man U and Arsenal walk all over us, with the result they get the lion's share of referreing decisions. It's about time someone gave them the message they cannot push us around, either physically or metaphorically.

Next time though, Pards, give the journos and the easily outraged something to really whine about.

my a*** is a bit sore sitting on the fence with this one.

on one hand Pards has shown some passion, and finally cracked under the pressure he's constantly put under
and on the other, he's made a fool of himself and been stupid with his actions.

To those who want him sacked, are you in MA's inner circle and a confidant so you are absolutely certain we'll end up with a top manager.
No, I thought not, after everything he's done, you're obviously quite happy to take your chances with a roll of the dice or a spin of the roulette wheel by MA and take what comes.
The last spin brought us JK, I wonder what the next will bring.

As a neutral I think it's trivial and has been blown out of all proportion. The pundits love it because it gives them something different to spout about.

MA always consults me about any changes he may be thinking of making.

Exactly same as when on the pitch. If you pushed the oppo player like Meyler did, you get a yellow. If you push your head towards Meyler as a reaction you get sent off and a 3 game ban. Pards will get the same (or more) plus a fine for the media hullabaloo.

unless your a french fullback on the receiving end

Only serves to show just how un-sackable this guy is. As soon as I watched it, my genuine first thought was "I bet he gets away with this too."

The only question for me is why does the owner believe Pardew to be so untouchable. Every other club probably in England let alone the Premier League would have sacked the manager. Odd.

Plus Points... We have managed to get one over the Mackems on the day they are playing a Cup Final.. Result
We now have a Manager who is prepared to that extra mile to get a result... Result
The players now understand that if they allow their performance to drop 1% the gaffer will stick one on them.. Result.
Only good can come from this, more press, more crap spouted by pundits. Alco Merson spouting **** was funny as ****, as well as Savage. Do they have
selective memory loss when it comes to their illustrious careers, **** Me! What a bunch of useless ****ing ****ers!!1

PARDEW, F**kin HERO!!!

Interesting bit of perspective from today's International Business times - good to see some parts of the media not resorting to hysteria!

Savage, Shearer and Souness Give The FA an Impossible Job Over Alan Pardew Punishment
By Nick Howson , Published: March 2, 2014 11:24 AM|Updated: March 2, 2014 11:30 AM

"I wouldn't be surprised, and I don't think anybody will be surprised at all, if Alan Pardew were to resign over this." Former Newcastle United manager and striker Alan Shearer

"That is a sackable offence. I've been frustrated and upset by a number of things, but I've never gone down that road." Ex-Newcastle United boss Graeme Souness

"I've never seen anything like that before. He'll be sitting down in the stands for a long, long time." Former England international Paul Merson

"What do his bosses see him? He's got a massive contract there. This is gross misconduct and they could throw the book at him." Ex-Liverpool manager Phil Thompson.

"He shouldn't be allowed in the ground for the last 10 games of the season." Retired Wales international Robbie Savage.

Just a selection of the reactions to Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew's headbutt on Hull City midfielder David Meyler. Not an assault, not grievous bodily harm, not murder, but a headbutt. Upon watching your chosen Premier League highlights package or picking up your morning newspaper, you would be pardoned for thinking otherwise.

As chairman Greg Dyke confirmed on Saturday evening, The Football Association will both investigate and take action against the Toon manager. Though Pardew's position as Newcastle manager is safe after he accepted an £100,000 fine and a warning from the club, he is set to spend most of the remainder of the season in the stands.

But it says plenty about the shock tactics deployed in football punditry that less than 24 hours after the event we're already forced to dilute the seriousness of the incident. Such has been the furore of the reaction to the headbutt that The FA face an impossible job punishing Pardew without a swathe of criticism.

Though the incident is somewhat unique in English league football, a precedent of sorts does exist. Ex-Blackpool manager Paul Ince was given a five-match stadium ban after being charged with violent conduct having physically attacked an official following the 2-1 win over AFC Bournemouth in September.

Pardew can expect a similar or slightly reduced ban after his second major touchline controversy. The Newcastle boss was banned for two games and fined £20,000 for pushing an official against Tottenham Hotspur in September 2012. The FA could use this relapse as reason to match Ince's punishment.

Otherwise, the incident is in badly need of some perspective. Whether we like it or not, such influential names making comments veiled in substancial hyperbole meant to shock and create headlines makes The FA's job hopeless.

The governing body face either denunciation for giving what will be perceived as a reduced punishment or making a mockery of their own guidelines and previous precedent by appeasing those anxious for the book to be thrown at Pardew.

We need only rewind to last week's five-match ban for Nicolas Anelka for an indication as to how The FA might rule on the decision but they face a no-win scenario.

Football's decision makers are often justifiably criticised but they would be advised to ignore calls from afar on this occasion or risk once again undermining their own rules. The game's significant names should think again before making such rash and irresponsible judgements.

For me, clearly it shouldn't have happened, but think the hysteria surrounding the incident is in no way proportionate to what was, let's be honest, a bit of handbags

Not good at all.

No, he didn't really get a decent contact on Dave's face.

I think given another attempt, he would be more forceful and accurate!

All joking aside, it was a very silly thing to do... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26403069

Robbie Savage is really doing my head in now, that talentless toss-pot needs to shut his face <grr> Saying on MOTD that violence is ok on the pitch and "leaving a bit on someone" was perfectly acceptable! I wish Dion Dublin had finished the twat's 'footballing' career.

Two words will put all this into perspective: Eric Cantona

That mad Frenchman Kung-Fu kicked a member of the public in a football ground and yet he came back after a ban.

Once again we see people flailing about asking for Pardew to be sacked etc <doh>

i just want to say a few things about this....
1) that is not a headbutt seriously people what world do you live in his head went in and it was a push at best
2) the comment that Meyler did nothing is naive... he has equally got himself involved in this incident by pushing the manager 1st (yes pardew shouldnt have reacted before anyone says it) and there is no excuse for that either and he was rightly carded which mr savage managed to overlook saying pardew was 'unprovoked'
3) how can we say pardew should have a greater punishment than a player ? if that's so because he is in a position of greater responsibility where does it stop? do captains and the senior men of the squad deserve greater punishments because of their 'responsibility'? no its ridiculous ...3 match touchline ban, simple....it was handbags tops....personally i think something like that should only be a match ban, calling it violent conduct is stupid and people are losing touch with reality ....how can the punch thrown by joey barton on pedersen (if anyone remembers it) merit the same punishment as a minsuclue coming together of heads is beyond me, the rule needs changing

Got to say certainly not a pardew lover and think his actions are wholly wrong and unacceptable but for a total prick like savage on March of the day to say he should be sacked for it is an absolute joke. What a complete and utter Muppet this guy is and talk about pot calling kettle black

Savage is a vile horrible person. His comments are of no surprise and he should really consider cyanide, it is the only way to clear his name. <ok>

Pardew's a ****ing arsehole, he was a ****ng arsehole when he was Charlton manager and he's still a ****ing arsehole now.

Though when he was Charlton manager, he actually ran on to the pitch at the KC for a fight.

He's a clown shoe mong and no mistake.

Well I guess he must be an a***hole. Otherwise he would have flattened that Mackem t*t Meyler, who evidently found it impossible to keep his hands to himself.

Sour grapes have got nothing to do with your very articulate contribution, of course.

I can't believe the FA haven't just dealt with this swiftly to knock it all on the head. A swift public hanging at dawn would have sorted this mess. Has Meyler come out of his coma yet?

No sour grapes, you were the better team and deserved to win.

I though Pardew was a ****ing arsehole long before he was your manager.
