Aren't you focusing too much on the Spain caps as if you focus on his club petformces then he won't be remembered as a great defender, especially in the big games in Europe where he's made big mistakes.
He regularly gets sent off, booked etc for being caught out of position. OK he may be part of the great Spanish team but in terms of club football he makes far too many mistakes for someone who is lauded with praise.
His caps are a continuous testament to his ability.
All defenders make mistakes. Their mistakes are always remembered more than anything else they do as those mistakes are invariably costly to their team.
I haven't followed Ramos' career closely, I just know how much competition there is here to be a member of the national side. Again, very few average players ever get there, let alone win over 100 caps.
