Tots you rate Danny Rose... He's not even 4th rate.

Lescott has won the Premier League, been a consistent performer whenever he's been played and has been unfairly overlooked during the past 18 months. City are letting him go because he's 31 and they already have Kompany, Nastasic and Demichelis plus an unlimited amount of dosh to find a replacement.

We may be without Vertonghen (possibly sold) and Kaboul (contract expires) next season and Lescott will be available for free... It's a no brainer in my eyes.

Lescott's a good, solid centre-half with a lot of experience in the English game. His partnership with Kompany was superb and I'm not sure why it's not been persisted with.

Again at 31 he will only be short term,we need to be looking futher ahead, ferguson bult his teams to last more than a couple of seasons, just what we need to do,and if we build this stadium, the funds will be needed for that ,not players,so build the team now, while we can.

Ferguson bought van Persie for £24m at 29 years old. He also signed van der sar when he was like 35.

We've constantly built for the future and look where it's got us - selling them for huge profits just as we're about to make a real quality side.

We need to invest in those that can do the business now. That way, with a bit of hope, it brings success instantly to the point where we can then invest in future stars who'll learn from the seasoned pros and be ready for when the time comes.

Ferguson knew the value of short-term deals, too. He didn't sign the likes of Henrik Larsson or Laurent Blanc for their longevity, for example.
If a side were willing to match QPR's summer bid for Dawson and we could replace him with Lescott for free, then we could reinvest the cash on other areas of the team.

As Spurs if we build a team for a number of seasons what tends to happen is some cash-rich club tends to come in and tap-up our players and totally decimates the team in the process. Berba/Modric/Bale......

why?,because we let them go instead of playing hardball with them.like pool did with Saurez, let them sulk, but pick them to play,if they do and make us succesfull they will want to stay, like Saurez at pool now

We done the same with Modric/Berba/Bale, keeping them for a season after they want out. If an actual big club came in for Suarez (not the goons), such as Barca, Madrid or Munich then it would be a different story, plus i'm pretty sure a release clause has been placed in his new contract so to make sure next time Suarez can move without the hassle.

They say it's 70 million, only Real or Barca could afford that, and would Real want to spend that sort of money again.

We did play hardball with Luka for a season but then things got out of hand, refusing to train/ play etc and therefore forced our hand.

Bale too ended up refusing to play and train.

Berba apparently wanted out after his first season and so you could that similar to Luka, we did play hardball for a season but then gave in to demands.

Man UTD played hardball with Rooney and refused to sell him when others like City and the Chavs were interested.
Put simply if you want to win things , you keep your best players .
It is hard but if there is a will it can be done.

Did a club actually bid for Suarez in the end?

I know I and a lot of others have said they did well to hold onto him but thinking about it, I really don't remember Liverpool receiving a bid for him. I think Real enquired but that was it, the money 'Pool wanted meant Real couldn't afford him AND Bale in one window and Bale was clearly their priority target.

The Goons and their celebrated 40m + 1 quid offer.

If they refuse to train and play withhold their wages, you make it plain to them they signed a contract and are staying for the duration of it.If more clubs done that you may see less players moving just for the money

The only player i think we'd lose (rather than sell willingly) is Vertonghen. He seems totally lost with it all and just generally not interested. I don't blame him to be honest. However, like others have said, it's up to him to earn his money and not just bail.

A few people have mentioned Lloris and Eriksen.

I'm sure a bid will come in for Lloris, but I don't think he'll leave. Goalkeepers can play for much longer than outfield players and Lloris has years ahead of him yet. It's looking like Van Gaal will become our new boss, as he's even spoken about us/referred to us when questioned about premiership management. I expect a deal to sign him is further down the road than we think. If we do secure him, I think it'll be enough to keep Lloris.
Also, right now, we should be seriously considering making Lloris captain, IMO. He captains his country, and for all the mistakes he's made, he's one of very few players who plays with passion and gives his all. We need leaders right now.

As for Eriksen, He'll give us at least another year, IMO. he's only 21 and has made it clear he wants to play first team football to develop into the best footballer he can. We've got the facilities and we can give him that opportunity. He's got no reason to leave just yet.

The promise of a 300k contract probably played a small part in convincing Rooney to show patience.
