When you look at our FA Cup Squads used this Season, they are pretty consistent, it is debateable whether they were the best available. Pochettino didn't pick our strongest side, but he picked a side 'strong enough' to win that game, without a doubt. He wanted to win, as he is the manager, and nobody can honestly say he 'looked uninterested' or he 'didn't care'. Of course he cares. Like he said in his interview with Blackmore today, nobody moaned about young Gallagher playing in the Premier League, and accused him of disrespecting the division. He picks a team he believes can win, whilst also giving people opportunities. They are all professionals, and can do a job. Unfortunately, they had an off day, and we lost. The end. No point in reminding ourselves about it.
I really doubt poch would willingly put out a team he thought would struggle against Sunderland when he has a team he knows would beat them and a week between games. I think he underestimated them. And the team played poorly.
Of course I can. It is my view that he looked uninterested. I might be mistaken but there's nothing dishonest about it.
The "anger" was brought upon Pochettino, by Pochettino. Fans could see past his flimsy reasoning for the team selection last week and those excuses reeled off today have just compounded the issue. Nothing wrong with fans being "angry" about an awful defeat. Nothing wrong with venting that "anger" on an internet message board. Nothing wrong with the manager having to face some awkward questions. Some fans seem to think that unless you lick every single crevice of everyone at the football club, on a daily basis, that you are a lesser supporter and the whole club will fall to pieces as a result.
Rodriguez was ill. Suddenly and inexplicably ill. Luckily it was a short term thing, as he appears to be fine for West Ham, thank god.
Well that explains it. Boruc ill as well I presume. Everyone's ill. It's a goddam 90minute isolated epidemic!!!!!
Yes it is. I was pissed off he gave the ball away more times than I've seen a saints player this year. Pratt. Shouldn't have picked himself. 100% is quite a lot really.
I just can't see the point in getting angry at one defeat. What was disappointing, and disappointment is as far as I'll go, is that - on paper - MP picked a better team than they did and we still lost.
We have a losable game away to shammers and a losable game at home to Liverpool. Can't wait to be on here for he next couple of weeks.
Yes, how do you explain that? Didn't a wise man once say that hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard? I'm sure we'll see a purely coincidental upturn in competence.
It's not the defeat that's disappointing. As a lifelong saints fan I can obviously live with those. It's the going down without a fight. If our first 11 had lost that game, I would be saying fair play, we went for it and had a bad day at the office. But it was a crap team selection which undermined us before the game had even started so I am annoyed that we have gone out of the FA cup when a load of ****e teams are still in it. We had a genuine chance to go to wembley. I don't see how anyone can defend MP on this. He has done barely anything wrong since he came in, but Saturday was a big error of judgement. And whoever quoted me as pointing out that JWP wasn't great, you're putting words in my mouth. I thought he did Ok, but he's 19 and barely played at CM for us at this level. My opinion is that Wanyama is massively rusty, the two shouldn't have been played at the same time. One or the other. I said it as soon as I saw the team sheet. May as well close the saints board on not606 if we can't have a discussion about positives and negatives
I do kind of agree with you Os, but then our manager is also young and relatively inexperienced too. I think he should be given the opportunity to learn from perceived mistakes as well.
