If they had a recruitment officer, I reckon he may as well pack it in now. Their whole ethos is fixed to keeping the "official" tag so they get to meet a player once a month. What use will that be if they have no members due to this gutless stance and a lack of any real purpose?
Not really. I know all the board and all but one of them are strongly against the name change. Some are anti-Allam in fact. I can't really explain this stance other than that they're under constant threat of having their official status taken away by the Doctater.
If they have no members there's no point, but if they aren't official there's no point either. They're never going to be like CTWD in terms of being a successful supporters group who aren't affiliated with the club. It's too late for that IMO.
The OSC isn't a protest group. It's meant to be neutral and has been forced into this debacle of a poll. It has to represent its members and yes, that means the 40% who are ok with a name change. I can't believe they're being put down by some on here for remaining neutral and presenting the facts as they see them to the FA. No emotional bullshit, just what the club is, where it came from, HCC, the Allams and what it means to ALL of its members. It's a crime now to not be biased? Sweet Jesus Christ. CTWD represents a specific 1600ish. The OSC view is more representative of the majority of the fans I'd say too, not just their members. You might not like that view, but it is what it is.
It's wrong to conduct a poll and then ignore the result. The OSC's membership base is less varied than CTWD. There's a high proportion of OSC members who you'd say are 'older' fans. This is proven by the fact that the OSC's poll result was a lot different to all the other ones including not606 and HDM which are non-exclusive. I've got faith in the OSC delegation going to the FA today. I know the three people who are going well and two of them in particular understand the situation very well and can put extremely good arguments forward against the name change. Thankfully none of them are prone to the 'he's put a lot of money in!' bullshit.
Why? I've obviously got the wrong idea of what a supporters club is. It seems to exist to have 'official' in its name and to see the occasional player. You can see players quite often anyway if the need arises.
I think we're in danger of drifting off onto another topic, that got done to death previously, but you're kind of making the point for me. Perhaps the OSC needs a more diverse raison d'etre?
I don't speak French* but I think the OSC probably needs a bit of an overhaul. However for obvious reasons it's not the priority for anyone at the moment. *Even if I could I'd refuse to.
Do you know if the OSC will be releasing full details of their submission to the FA? Is Bernard one of the three attendees today?
Both the CTWD vote and the OSC added together = around 3,000. That's still a minority of 21,000 + home fans at the kc stadium. The majority aren't that bothered has always been my view and that's not changed at all And singing CTID has never been a protest song . We say No Is the protest song.
Wouldn't you prefer the opportunity to vote? Whatever side of the fence you sit on, you deserve a say. In order to test this theory. At the ground I mean. There's a lot who aren't affiliated to these groups and should get a say. But Allam is denying them this.
I don't know if they'll be releasing it, though based on other press releases I doubt it. Bernard is one of the three. I'm hoping the other two will balance him out and more.
I think that a lot of supporters are in this group, not bothered enough to go out of their way to have a say, but would prefer to remain as we are.
We were polled on our thoughts regarding the name change and then certain comments were made suggesting the results of that poll wouldn't be accurately represented. People will have concerns with transparency if the submission isn't made public.
