Huh? - you lost me completely - I think you are trying to take a shot at me somehow, which would be in keeping. You guys don't seem to be able to post two concurrent posts without making personal attacks.
Yes it looks like it's dead in the water now. Also it appears that Sanogo is coming back to training too soon. So we'll have three CF's available....
Yep, it looks like Bendtner's fast recovery prompted letting Akpom go on loan, rather than a signing.
Really................Clutching at straws. Its called a joke. Pull the stick out and lighten up. I actually think bendtner has been good in the few opportunities he has had. And I would wait till the summer to buy a striker if it meant someone truly great. But the following line of argument; " No one can say for certain what is going to happen in the future. However low you rate Bendtner, there is always that chance, small as it might be, that he will surprise you. So there is that chance it will be good news for Arsenal as well." is just clutching for straws. By that logic we should buy any old striker and stick him upfront because he might surprise us. Also you say you deal in probabilities well the how long has he been underperforming 2-3 years maybe (vs 1-2 good performances this season??) So the probabilities are heavily against him. What are the probabilities of someone who has out performed him in the last couple of season (be they amazing or not) coming in and continuing that tradition. Pretty good i imagine. Its a very weak argument. The fact you cant take harmless banter is another issue (but seeing as you are the most persecuted person on 606 i guess it makes sense).
For all his negatives, i'm quite confident that Bendy will do a decent job for us. Giroud is starting to fade after playing so many games and Bendy will be there to pick up the slack. Neither will/are blazing the goal scoring charts, but if they can keep things ticking over up front, then we should continue to get results.
Closely followed by his levels of condescension... Anyway to the point about Bendtner. He's not good enough for Arsenal. He's been here for ages and has never been good enough. There's a chance he could surprise us. Yeah, there's a chance I could get scouted, play for Arsenal and surprise everyone too. And that chance falls in the same <1% chance as winning the lottery. If you seriously believe in going with probabilities as you state, then I've no idea how you can back Bendtner because there is no evidence at there being any vague probability of him becoming a useful player for us.
People on here are harshly critical of TT in my opinion. Bendtnet has always been a relatively useful player for us. He's been constantly played out of position and done an OK job. It's not his ability that is in question (although he will never be World Class) it is his stupid attitude off the field. On the field he works hard and contributes.
Not sure that you could score 24 goals in 56 international appearances or 47 goals in 82 starts and 87 sub appearances for Arsenal, especially when those appearances were when he was just starting out and a large number of them out of position on the wing.
That's the problem and it's his attitude that cheeses so many people off. But performance wise, he has the knack of getting vital goals and does a relatively decent job. Is he good enough to be our main CF? No. But at the moment having both Giroud and Bendy should hopefully be enough to take us across the line. Summer time we can go into the market and get ourselves a CF.
I'm not saying he's rubbish. He's played for Arsenal and Juventus so he clearly has footballing ability. He's clearly better than some players in the premier league. But his ability is nowhere near good enough for that to overcome his arrogance and overall n0bbishness. Of course he's scored some goals for us. So have many strikers who haven't been good enough. Wreh. Jeffers. Chamakh. Aliadiere. I'm more frustrated at the opinion arising that there's the possibility that he could 'make it' at Arsenal rather than being frustrated at Bendtner himself. He clearly won't. But I still quite like him simply for his header against Spurs a few years ago. But needless to say we need to stop casually accepting players at the club just because they're at the club.
Between those 4 (who almost always played CF, they managed a total of 16 goals in 119 appearances and Chamakh got half of those. Bendtner is clearly quite superior to them.
Not really a pointless signing, we are one injury away from putting an 18 or 19 year-old on the bench for a PL game, who has never played a senior game in his life at any level. We are going to have to sign another keeper before the window closes I suspect, and he will probably not play much either, unless we get injuries, but whoever he is, he probably can't be considered pointless.
Obviously, I'm used to a superior level of banter, I honestly couldn't tell what you were trying to say. Not sure why you say I can't take it though, I'm still here. Anyway back to the point, as far as I can see, and I have lost count of how many strikers we have been linked with, it IS pretty much a case of buying any old striker and sticking him up front because he might surprise us. And, when all is said and done, Bendtner has done OK the last couple of times we have needed him. Hardly clutching at straws, when he has already delivered 2 fairly 'clutch' goals.
Any link on Viviano leaving? We signed him on a season long loan. Wouldn't call his signing 'useless', most fans were calling for a new GK with Shezny's form being called into question, and having Fabianski as back up was too light, and so it was good to get Viviano in, too bad for him Shezny picked his form up, who would start Viviano ahead of Shezny based on form? Anyways, hope he hasn't gone back, because I still prefer having 3 solid GK's.
Now that Arsenal87 has me on ignore, it is going to be interesting if he starts agreeing with me. Second time in a row!
Again read what I wrote. I agree with you on Bendtner. I just think that line of argument is weak. The last line was me being snarky, more than anything else, after the last few exchanges.
Maybe - Honestly, if I was manager, I don't know if I would buy or not. But, at least in part, I'm a soft-hearted old fool, inside I want Giroud and Bendtner to come good, and win for us, because it makes it even more of a fairy-tale.
