The Portuguese newspaper A Bola is reporting that Jackson Martinez is stalling on signing a new contract and that Arsenal are considering whether to trigger his release clause
Nah. It's just a negotiating ploy by his agent to get a better contract at his current club, mark my words.
What you mean like soldado, who people were claiming we should have signed, bentner has more goals from open play in the PL ffs. I agree that in theory we would be more likely to gain more points if we went out and got a striker but you cannot guarantee it I'm afraid, so stop claiming your opinion is the same as fact.
Atletico have loaned out Leo Baptistao to Sevilla, so looks like Costa is going nowhere. Martinez it is then.
We are more likely to win the league if we sign a top quality striker, that is a fact. Look, we only have 2 main forwards at the team now, I mean are you just being stubborn in denying that that hurts our title chances, and that it wouldn't be better to sign another quality forward. I'll make this simple for your stubborn ass, do Arsenal ENHANCE their title chances by signing a new top quality striker? Yes or no, the answer is clear. And a follow up, is Arsenal's title chances made more risky and tougher by only having 2 forwards, one of whom is Bendtner, who's proven that in general he's not that good, and a player we were looking to offload to C. Palace? Again, the answer is clear....But man, you apologists, stubborn as a molten blocked anus.
A Turkish newspaper is reporting that Bacary Sagna has signed a pre contract agreement with Galatasaray
That would suck if we lose Sagna, Jenkinson as our new RB in place of Sagna will be a downgrade, not an upgrade, Sagna this season has shown again, why he is so important for us, and just why he's one of the best RB's in the world.
But there's been noises that he wants to re-sign, it's just we're not offering him a long enough deal.
You lot should know by now that with arsenal they don't like anything coming out until the moneys been paid, the contracts been signed and its a done deal. Having said that, if Martinez is available and wants to come to us I think we should pay whatever it takes. He could pay for himself this season if we go on to win the league.
Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it isn't reality. You can't say what would have happened, IF something had happened differently in the past. On the bright side for you, if we do win, I can't say that we wouldn't have won with someone else as manager.
Of course the club (including Wenger) has a lot of say in the matter. Sagna is our best fullback (and still among the best in the league) and a great cover CB. If they judge that we can afford letting Sagna go because he wants a long term contract, and they fail to properly replace him, why wouldn't they be liable for their decision? It has nothing to do with loyalty, both parties in the negotiation have to decide what is best for them, and both parties can make concessions (like offering him a longer contract) if they judge it to be in their interest.
We cant pay a cover full back first team money. There is no doubt that Sagna can earn more elsewhere, if not next year, then definitely the 2 or 3 years after that. Its sad to see experienced players go, but sometimes you just have to accept it.
Why would Sagna want to leave now? He's finally in a team that might win something in the next few years!! The worst possible time to leave. If Wenger signs a decent forward, loan or otherwise, & Arsenal don't win anything, at least he's tried to address the main problem with the squad. Sometimes actions don't work out, but inaction is far worse.
