Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without gifts and there has been only one team, so I believe, in Premiership history that has survived the drop after being bottom at Christmas (West Brom, apparently). And as the dismals will indeed be bottom at Christmas regardless of whom they play at the weekend, lets hope that stat stays good at the end of this season.
 
I have been looking over Sunderlands record for the season and have come to the conclusion that the only way they could win the league would be if they were allowed to just play Newcastle each week that would give them a total of 77 points enough to take out the title
 
When this mackem actually wakes up and stops dreaming he will see his team are still bottom of the league. But then, we shouldn't be surprised that they are bottom of the league - the dismals, by my reckoning, have spent 12 seasons in the top flight and have been relegated from it 3 times.....that's a 25 per cent chance of NOT avoiding the drop. And over those twelve seasons they average something like 39 points per season. Small wonder then that when they actually do get a victory (or two, sadly) over their illustrious neighbours, they never stop bleating about it!

Never mind Mind the Gap, mackem, it should be Mind the Drop.
 
Arithmetic not really a strong point in Sunderland schools is it.
Suppose you could blame the government, but personally I blame the referees.

Fredor - 22 games remaining at 3 points per game = 66 points + 9 points you currently have
that makes a grand total of 75 to most educated people, but if you think its 77, fair enough who I am to argue.
Go see the teacher and expect detention.

Monty - where are the seven sending offs? I think you'll find, you count to ten as thus
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10

Not 1, 2, 3, 7 and whatever you think comes next.
After 3, comes 4 and then 5 and 6 before you reach 7

I think it's only fair for the FA to award Sunderland points they would have won if they hadn't had players sent off.
