You mean background chatter and occasionally getting the back of your chair kicked doesn't improve the movie experiance for you?

Yes, I've seen a few reviews. Apparently, it is absolutely stunning in many ways, and appears to be the one film that 3D was invented for. Not surprising, I suppose, when Space and the Earth is your backdrop.

What worries me about this film is that no one ever mentions what they thought of the actual story. They just say it looked nice. If it's just another Avatar I'm not interested.

The reviews I've read have also said that the story is fine and that the acting is first class as well. It may be a potential Oscar winner for all the right reasons.

I don't think it will be shipped quite yet, I had a similar email reference to my Xbox One pre-order.

Would be nice to get it early though

As glorious as those are, the true cherry on the cake is the inevitable fat dude shovelling popcorn into his face as fast as he can, and the idiot who spends half an hour trying to wrestle open a bag of crisps.

    First Christmas Joke

Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

'In honour of this holy season' Saint Peter said, 'You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.'

The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. 'It's a candle', he said.

'You may pass through the pearly gates' Saint Peter said.

The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, 'They're bells.'

Saint Peter said 'You may pass through the pearly gates'.

The third man started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of women's panties.

St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, 'And just what do those symbolize?'

    'These are Carols.' he replied.

And so the Christmas season begins......

Avatar was awesome. It was basically Pocahontas and Pocahontas is the best Disney film.

Avatar was all style over substance and as you say a direct rip off of a children's film...I can point you to epic two films that tells the story the of Native Americans on a much grander scale....Little Big Man starring Dustin Hoffman and Dances With Wolves with Kevin Costner.
I've heard that the story in Gravity is a bit thin but I would probably go to see it in the same way that I would go to a Planetarium.

Avatar was bloody terrible. The 3D was pretty cool but other than that it just wasn't a good movie.

Cool, I love Amazon so I imagine this'll end up pretty good.

And also Last of the Mohicans (actually, I've not seen either of those films but LotM is a brilliant film)

Glee can be good, but Glee can also be pretty rubbish. Some episodes have been atrocious (e.g. the first Britney Spears episode) but generally it's okay. I think the last series or two has had less in the way of the really good episodes and storylines though.

It is a bit of a rip off, but I went in expecting a rip off so I wasn't disappointed. I suppose it all boils down to expectations.

Good thing about Gravity is that the story doesn't almost matter - you feel like you're in space really. Saying that, the story is also a good one. It's just sort of secondary to the experience. I'm not sure how it would translate to TV, hence why it's well worth going for the full cinematic experience. Honestly, I'm quite hard to please these days, and I really, really enjoyed it.

Being born at the beginning of the Space Age, following all the space missions as a kid and later on, I've always been a stickler for accuracy in films where Space is depicted. I don't like engine noise, for example, because there is none. I don't like the fact that to go anywhere in Space, the engines have to be on all the time. In reality, they spend 99% of the time off, rather than on. Even Apollo 13 got bits of the physics wrong, for dramatic effect, so they say, and that was depicting an actual event. The only Space age film that has got it pretty much 100% accurate so far is 2001 - A Space Odyssey [and its sequel], so that's the standard for me. From reading reviews, I understand Gravity breaks a few physics rules, but I'm hoping it hasn't torn them to shreds for dramatic effect, because that will have me turning away. Please, please, please, no engine noise in Space.
