I like your reasoning Tommy, have City put on a pointless friendly for you to watch so you don't have to watch a pointless international friendly. I like it, bravo <applause>.

Afternoon all. Should be a good game on Saturday. Think we will rest a few against Sunderland. We have a strong squad this season and some very promising youngsters who need experience.

Think midfield will be the key on Saturday with Huddleston up agaisnt Morgan and Victor. If we can win that battle I think we'll take the 3 points.

Curious facts about Soton's games so far.

They've only played 2 games out of 10 against top-half opposition (admittedly getting a good 4 pts in the process).

Compare that with our 5 games.

They're a decent team albeit in a false position and will drop down the table in the coming weeks (after playing us they have Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City
in the next 4 games).

Lets hope their slide starts on Saturday.....

We've actually been better against the top teams than the rest. Under Pochettino, Saints have played the six 'big clubs' on seven occasions, resulting in 4 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses and an 11-7 goal spit...while out-shooting the opposition in all seven games. The games that have proven problematic have instead been those against teams that park the bus, though that's showing signs of changing thanks in part to the crosses and corners of James Ward-Prowse.

Taken together, don't be shocked if Hull nicks something, only for Southampton to turn around a grab a win against one (heh, or both) of Arsenal/Chelsea.

I'd be happy with that :D

It wouldn't be a pointless friendly, it'd keep the squad match fit. It's not like any of our players will get called up to England anyway, so the Irish and Egyptians lads can go off and play and those left behind don't have to go two weeks without a game.

Really looking forward to this match its gonna be my mrs first ever football match since i managed to convert her to the sport haha im gonna go for a 1-0 win for City she thinks 3-0

no disrespect but saints have the best defence in the league and I dont see Hull scoring 3 goals when teams like man utd , liverpool have failed . Will be a close game and could go either way , but if saints play at there best , i personally feel it will be 3 points for us no matter what you do .

lets have some of whatever you are both smoking

He put 1-0 to us, what's wrong with that? Fair enough, his girl clearly is inexperienced with the sport as he mentions, but considering everyone expects it to be tight contest there's nowt wrong with saying 1-0.

We already play friendlies during international breaks, they're just behind closed doors, usually Leeds, York or one of Sheffield clubs.

I fancy us this weekend. Just think Southampton will have one of those days and it won't go in for them and we'll nick a goal. Very impressed by Southampton this season and it will be a very tough game. We've had a tough set of away games with Chelsea, Man City, Tottenham, Newcastle and Everton being our opening 5, we've been unlucky to not have more than 3 points and I think it'll go our way on Saturday.

Didn't they beat us last time we met down there, 1-0, the season they got promoted, and said we were the best team they'd played? I expect the same tbh. Well cept we wont have been the best team to play them.

I have tried to explain that its gonna be a hard match but she has only been watching football since she has been with me and considering she is more of a basketball fan she seems to be picking it up rather well except for her predictions haha but cant really blame her the philipines dont really do football lol
