Admiral of the Humber (Weatherspoons, just across the way from the train station near the Bingo Hall on Anlaby Rd) does.

Brickmakers next to the ground allows both sets of fans.

A bit further a field, depending when your train gets in go to Old Town or Prinny Ave.

Admiral is a dump, so is the surrounding area. Get yourself to the Old Town, Ye Olde Black Boy or Ye Olde White Heart are wonderful historical pubs.

At this stage a draw would be a decent result for both teams. For us, the concern is always that the promoted teams fly out of the blocks and our players underestimate them, for Hull, getting off the mark with a point against a mid-table team (despite what some of you think above, we have actually finished 12th, 11th and will be aiming for top ten this season given the signings) is the way forward.

If Hull are to win, it will be 1-0. Our defence is too strong, especially with Bassong. We only conceded more than one goal to sides in the bottom half twice last season, and one of those was the opening day shocker. A Huddlestone (or other player) screamer as mentioned above is the most plausible option for Hull scoring, as we will be set up not to lose and it will be the only way through.

I'd love to say 0-3 Norwich, if Johnson, Howson and Fer are on top form, but I suspect we'll be cagey and it will be a slightly drab 1-1. On that basis, I suspect that we'll let you play a little and at the end of the match there will be lots of screaming about how Norwich were "lucky" to get a point (like the Everton tede-fest). I could, of course, be wrong

As for Hull - I personally think you've done the best job of improving your squad, simply because you've got depth rather than just a few big splashes. I also think the much maligned Bruce is, Sunderland spell aside, a decent manager (and a Norwich legend). If you can stay up at the expense of Stoke I would be delighted.

That's a sound post, mate. Bruce wasn't too bad at Sunderland, to be fair. As for our team, it all depends how we set up, but hopefully we will have a full midfield that will take the game from you and hold possession - I think Ruddy will be well tested. I don't see a bore draw but a good passing game as both teams find their feet - Chelski did us big favours when we did just that in the second half; it will have given our lads real encouragement - bring on the goalscorers :emoticon-0103-cool:

Appreciate the reply bor, but I doubt I'll have time for much adventuring once I get off the train. If there's somewhere nicer between the station and the KC then I'll have a look (providing it's away fan-friendly of course).

The black boy is a 10 minute walk from the station in the opposite direction to the kc

The admiral will be packed due to the rugby lot

That's the daft thing about hull, severe lack of pubs near the station

What time does your train get into hull?

Most of the pubs down anlaby road you'd want to avoid imo

Ticket is valid for the whole day, but I was planning to get into Hull station at 14:08 and just have a swift drink on the way to the KC. Could get in earlier I suppose.

Come out of the train station, walk into St Stephens shopping centre next door, come out of the back of the shopping centre onto Park Street, turn right and walk up to Spring Bank, then turn left and walk up to Princess Ave(there's lots of bars and restaurants down there, all away friendly), the KC is shown bottom left on the dodgy picture below, but you won't need a map from there, just follow the crowd(it's only a 5-10 minute walk).

In that time there's pretty much no pubs you could go to other than the admiral but it will be absolutely heaving so best to avoid, i can't think of any you could go to

Could try the cheese pub ir the sandringham 2-3 mins from the station, i saw loads of forest fans in there last season, just cross the road infront of the station and walk right past the war memorial, see chicken george takeaways and the two pubs are along that street, probably a minute walk to be fair

Easy-peasy, eh, Tickles! What about Rip Van Winkle?

Do you really need me to explain this to you Stanley ? ;)

Norwich look a decent side under CH, though with the 2 Tottenham boys starting, I think we will shade this one by the odd goal 2-1 to the Tigers, but I think it will be an entertaining game. Looking forward to it.

Agreed John. With TH and JL in the midfield and Brady and Elmo on the wings banging over there trademark crosses it could be a happy day for our strikers.

Just remembered Snodgrass is a ****.
scores a free kick against us. Every bloody time <grr>

Eh - That happens almost very time.

Agreed, I can't stand the bloke, he's been a twat every time he's played against us.
His reception will be very different to Turner's, who I expect will be warmly welcomed back, before being abused for the following ninety minutes.

Turner wont get any abuse from me. That is all for Snod-arse.
Turner is out of contract next summer so lets keep him sweet eh ? Lets have the 2 Michael's next summer.
Dawson and Turner to replace Faye and Bruce jnr.

One thing Hughton has made us, is a very difficult side to beat! Last season we got tonked more than in Lamberts era but we had a lot more clean sheets, draws and narrow defeats. Some games we enter in a "do not lose" manner and play some ugly football and I fear we will do that Saturday.

I do think it will be the battle of Fer v Huddlestone and who controls midfield that could win the match, also killer instinct in front of goal... something that you seem to be lacking!

Hard to disagree with ^^^ this. I expect Huddlestone to be more ready than Fer. But will Fer start ? Interesting.
Does Hughton start with last weeks team or bring back Bassong - Snodgrass - Fer and Hooper. Stick or twist.
Should be fun.

We should have someone always close to Ricky Van Wolfswinkel if he has space we're ****ed believe me.

That applies to most PL strikers ffs. <doh>

Admiral is not a dump unlike many in the old town. But the old town pubs do have much better beers.

Admiral will be your best bet if time is short for you. Just accross the road from the station.

FT - Fer has not been injured (he was suspended last week) and has played a lot in our pre-season and looks a real prospect. In terms of preparedness I would suggest that he has more minutes under his belt in pre-season than Huddlestone and much more time to get used to his team mates and our system. I rate TH and would happily have had him at our place and I think that it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

Fer is nailed on to start whereas Snodgrass should be OK. I can't see CH having a centre back pairing where they are both on the road back from injury and not fully match fit so maybe Bassong will be on the bench. Whether or not Hooper starts will show how much ambition CH has for this game - history suggests he will play a cagey 4-5-1 with Hooper to come off the banch and inevitably score against the club who tried to buy him earlier.

I think we're pretty **** and that we'll lose this game, but what the hell is this bloke from you vitalfootball page on? Such a complete lack of understanding about our team. Wouldn't surprise me if he thinks Palace are decent too, just like everyone else <laugh>

I thought I would get the ball rolling with some tentative views about our next opponents.

On paper, this should be an easy one for us. Few, if any PL quality players and realisation that their skill set just cannot hack it. Their two strikers are limited. Graham has never been able to reproduce his Swansea championship form and Sagbo is very much on a learning curve. His previous years' form, 22 goals in 90 appearances for Evian does not indicate he is going to set the world on fire.

Steve Bruce frequently plays 3-5-2 with two of the midfielders, probably Brady and Elmohandy hovering between mid and defence. Midfield passing at this level is dire and they will find it difficult to retain possession.

A three man defence against a fast moving Norwich attack is likely to leak like the proverbial. Their centre back James Chester is promising but has a steep learning curve and will be found wanting.

The one bit of quality is the Scottish international Alan McGregor in goal. While he is no John Ruddy, he is a seasoned player who saved a pen against Lampard on Sunday.

Caution. Hull are an enthusiastic side, who relish the chance to play against PL opposition. After their football lesson at Chelsea, they will regard Norwich as more their level and the game as winnable. They love to attack so expect to see them try to get forward in numbers. They are not afraid to use the long ball to get past opponents. Also they are at home on a pitch that they share with the Rugby club. They are likely to leave the grass on the long side to hamper the passing game, which is not their forte. They also know all about diving and will be falling like ninepins in our penalty area if they can. It should be that the low key approach, which is supposed to be the refereeing mantra, will result in fewer penalties given unless clear cut but it all boils down to who is holding the whistle.

I suspect it will not be a high scoring game despite all our firepower and I expect our defensive strength to be even greater. Hull do not have a Barkley to strike wonder goal so I expect a clean sheet

Depending on if I get into Hull a bit earlier, I might have a wander up to either of these. Thanks again for all the advice Tigers.

That's the worst pre-match report I've ever seen.

That's incredible. Just more and more bullshit the longer it goes on. It'll probably be hard for Graham to reproduce his Swansea Championship form since he never played for them there. Passing not being our game? Diving about?! Long ball??!!

If ever a single person reinforced a stereotype it is the inbred, six fingered ****er who wrote that ****. Ignorant ****.

Some of it is quite reasonable and fair, such as his point about Chester being a promising defender but also one who will have an uphill task to impress this season.

Other stuff, such as his point that, "Hull do not have a Barkley to strike wonder goal", is just bizarre. What the **** is he babbling on about? <laugh>

Well that's Bruce's team talk done.

Just stick that on the notice board and get the players to read it.
