One thing Hughton has made us, is a very difficult side to beat! Last season we got tonked more than in Lamberts era but we had a lot more clean sheets, draws and narrow defeats. Some games we enter in a "do not lose" manner and play some ugly football and I fear we will do that Saturday. I do think it will be the battle of Fer v Huddlestone and who controls midfield that could win the match, also killer instinct in front of goal... something that you seem to be lacking!
Norwich have done one of the best in the transfer market which makes me think it will be a tough game. I'll certainly take a draw now
You're not wrong, we'll give you a decent game and if we lose it will almost certainly be down to our inability to finish.
Will be a tough game on Saturday and Norwich are opponents who we can not underestimate. Hopefully the effort and performance in the 2nd half against Chelsea will give us confidence going into this game. Just hoping we can pick up points from this game.
This fixture certainly has the making of a real test for us. I can't wait. I hope Brady has recovered from the bruising he got at Chelsea. He was clattered a few times.
I'll be happy with a point to be honest. If memory serves, hasn't Turner scored against us before? When he was playing for Sunderland? Either way, I think that Brady and Aluko are going to give their full backs a really hard time and if we can concentrate for the opening quarter, then we should be fine. EDIT: Just checked up on that Turner goal, apparently it was credited to a Kamil Zayatte own goal (there's a surprise)
Last season CH split the fans. Some (myself included) felt that he had been given a brief to keep us up by any means. The way he chose to do so was to invest in improving the defence and play a more "solid" ie defensive formation. After all of the ups and downs of the season we stayed up and finished 11th so, again in my opinion, job done by CH. Others felt that we played some dire football (which we did) and that CH did not get as much out of the players as Lambert, our style was not pretty on the eye (it often wasn't) and they would rather have someone else in charge. I get the feeling that he is now getting the benefit of the doubt as he has spent this summer's kitty on far more attacking players such as the Wolf, Hooper and Redmond and we have a quality DM in Fer which should allow us to play more expansively this time round. Like any other manager if he strings together a few wins and good performances he'll best the greatest thing ever and if we play poorly or lose a few then he'll be an idiot. Personally I reckon he did what he had to do last season - even with Yellow-tinted glasses on we had (for the Prem) a weak squad and it was an achievement to keep us up. With the players at his disposal this season expectations will be raised. I am happy we have him and happy with how he is moving the club along.
He got you through a difficult second season where a lot of newish teams kop it. And that's after your previous manager decided to leave. We had a shocking 2nd season last time out. I think he's bought well and you should finish round about midtable again. Although, you could do similar to West Brom last season, and have blinding season.
Morning Tigers (really not sure whether or not to call you that these days!). I'm an exiled Canary in London and I'll be taking the train up to your city on Saturday (it'll be my first trip to the KC). Is there a particular 'away pub' at all?
We should have someone always close to Ricky Van Wolfswinkel if he has space we're ****ed believe me.
Admiral of the Humber (Weatherspoons, just across the way from the train station near the Bingo Hall on Anlaby Rd) does. Brickmakers next to the ground allows both sets of fans. A bit further a field, depending when your train gets in go to Old Town or Prinny Ave.
Norwich will be like a fly that we'll swat half consciously. 3-0 to us with 4th and 5th goals wrongly ruled out, Holloway to whinge about it saying that goal difference might be the difference between his Palace side staying up and Norwich going down, and that how are they to compete with a mid table championship quality side when they're up against officials like these.
What Macca said. 10-15 minutes up Anlaby Road (walk back towards the main road, past the bingo hall, across the main road and keep walking up that way, go over the flyover & you;re there). Mind you the Rugby lot are at Wembley in the cup final at the weekend, so it might be full in there.
I'm actually not very confident, fingers crossed if Davies carries on from his second half performance against Chelsea he will match Wolfswinkel in the air, Huddlestone has to start.
The Silver Cod was always a nice one for away fans to mingle with him fans, I think it's closed now, I can't remember.
At this stage a draw would be a decent result for both teams. For us, the concern is always that the promoted teams fly out of the blocks and our players underestimate them, for Hull, getting off the mark with a point against a mid-table team (despite what some of you think above, we have actually finished 12th, 11th and will be aiming for top ten this season given the signings) is the way forward. If Hull are to win, it will be 1-0. Our defence is too strong, especially with Bassong. We only conceded more than one goal to sides in the bottom half twice last season, and one of those was the opening day shocker. A Huddlestone (or other player) screamer as mentioned above is the most plausible option for Hull scoring, as we will be set up not to lose and it will be the only way through. I'd love to say 0-3 Norwich, if Johnson, Howson and Fer are on top form, but I suspect we'll be cagey and it will be a slightly drab 1-1. On that basis, I suspect that we'll let you play a little and at the end of the match there will be lots of screaming about how Norwich were "lucky" to get a point (like the Everton tede-fest). I could, of course, be wrong As for Hull - I personally think you've done the best job of improving your squad, simply because you've got depth rather than just a few big splashes. I also think the much maligned Bruce is, Sunderland spell aside, a decent manager (and a Norwich legend). If you can stay up at the expense of Stoke I would be delighted.
