That's pretty ****ty considering the service he's received that we can't even sell many tickets. Maybe slightly different in terms of stature but Gerrard's was a sell out at Anfield and pretty sure Ferdinand will get a 60k attendance on Friday.
I hope you weren't expecting a sellout, because that was never gonna happen. I see around 10k at most, sadly.
Agreed Newark, it's ****. I hope the matchday sales are good. I can't see why people wouldn't come to this when all these great players from the past are playing. In fact, we got 23,000 when we played Liverpool in a meaningless friendly. It's pathetic that people will go to a more expensive friendly just to see 'the big names' but won't turn out for Andy and all the other legends.
One reason - because they are glory hunting fans who don't even know who any of our players are pre-2008.
I think it very unlikely, but he is really good mates with Daws so that might have some impact, I'd still put it at 10/90% against.
If there's no more than 15k at the testimonial, the HDM should print something like "disappointing" as a back page story, really shame those City fans who could've gone but didn't. A lot of the the more recent fans should have no excuse for missing this, as Daws would've been a mainstay in their team for some time. Mind you, I went to Deano's against Aberdeen and there was nobody there either. This just a season after he fired us into the PL for the first time. We lost, but it was something special to say I saw Deano in a City shirt one last time (now I'll have to say it again!). I remember at the time his (Dawson's) signing felt oddly great, as though he was a catalyst for bigger things to come. Turned out my hunch was right!
I was really looking forward to going to this but unfortunately my Dad has been taken ill and it's looking like neither of us will be able to make it on Sat. I'm actually quite gutted to be missing it in all honesty.
And I'm on holiday, so I'm missing this and the Chelsea game, I'm never letting the missus arrange the holiday again.
Im really looking forward to it, legends first and the a test against a really good Real Betis side with players such as Castro and Juanfran, I was most looking forward to seeing Benat, but he's just gone to Bilbao for $8 million
Yes, a year after firing the most important goal in our history (and even before that one of the biggest fan favourites in decades) only the loyal 6,000 or so could be arsed to turn out to say thankyou to Dean. Some 40,000 were happy to party at Wembley but had a barbie to attend that (great turnout from Aberdeen, btw). Shockingly fickle fans we have. Expect the same shameful lack of gratitude to Andy on Saturday. Hope he is not disappointed and doesn't take it personally.
I've just booked my tickets on the website and selected my own seat, green squares all around me though. Hopefully a lot of people will just turn up, but it doesn't look like many have been bought up to now.
Nandos chicken in a paper bag bares no resemblance to piri-piri chicken served in a Portuguese restaurant.
